Philippine president-elect urges public to kill drug dealers

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — The Philippine president-elect has encouraged the public to help him in his war against crime, urging citizens with guns to shoot and kill drug dealers who resist arrest and fight back in their neighborhoods.

In a nationally televised speech late Saturday, Rodrigo Duterte told a huge crowd in the southern city of Davao that Filipinos who help him battle crime will be rewarded.

"Please feel free to call us, the police, or do it yourself if you have the gun — you have my support," Duterte said, warning of an extensive illegal drug trade that involves even the country's police.

If a drug dealer resists arrest or refuses to be brought to a police station and threatens a citizen with a gun or a knife, "you can kill him," Duterte said. "Shoot him and I'll give you a medal."

When I was there 3 years ago, he told the gang leaders and drug dealers in Davao. You have 48 hours to leave peacefully. After that you will leave violently. Your choice. He may, in a way, cut crime, but he does it in a way that is certainly nothing to be applauded. No trials, just send a death squad to kill people he's decided are guilty. Age doesn't matter, children have been killed because it was decided that they needed to die. Yeah, crime will be reduced if you simply kill everybody that you think might be a criminal; but is that really the way society should be?

Also, he hasn't said anything about economic policies that will help the average Filipino. The most he has said is that he will continue what Aquino was doing.

Trump will get along well with him .

Except for the fact that Duterte is no fan of the US.

You of all people to should know. He used soldiers and CIA to bring it in. The military suffered grin many soldiers being strung out on drugs also during the Viernam War under a different presidency.

None the less, tired of you throwing around black people, then cry about race when we bring up the problems black people have in this country. You're so tired of race but stuff about black people ooze out of your mouth consistently. Reagan's drugs hurt a lot of AMERICANS in this country, not just black people, but we hurt the most because of lack of resources and money to combat the issue.
