With the Summer Olympics coming up this year I thought it would be a fun question to see how everyone here handles rooting for their home country considering everyone is immigrating to the US.

Being the American of course I will always root for USA, but as long as England is not against the US I will root for them. (As I will be for the Euros that start next weekend)

Jon says as long as it's not football(soccer) or track and field he will root for the US with me because he really only cares about football(soccer) and track and field (those are his favorites to watch).

I am an Olympic nut, I always take off work so I can watch them live and I have gotten up early to watch them as soon as they start so I am glad to see they will be in EST with me so no super early rising like I did for Sochi!!!

I look forward to everyone's responses! Only 62 days to Rio!!!!

Ok listen up I'm all for one of THE sporting events that we have the privelage to watch supreme athletes (the non cheating ones!) in action but let's face it what most people tune in for is the men's 100m final.. Just saying it like it is. The blue ribband event.

If the Lightening Bolt can defend his titles again then there is zero doubt he will be one of the very best Olympians in history if not the best. Yes others have broken longevity records or amassed more medals but in his events the competition is unbelievable and to stay ahead of the field fir so long will not be matched any time soon.

He has one HUGE flaw however... The idiot is a Man Utd supporter... The fool !!

Yeah, I have to agree I root for The Bolt as well! He is just so amazing to watch! I am glad I got to watch him live in my lifetime!

I didn't know he was a Man United fan... that makes me a sad panda.....

Glad to see some others are at least rooting for 'Merica second! I can't wait for them to start. At least we have the Copa America and the Euros to tide us over for those of us that enjoy football(soccer).

It's been 5 days since Colombia soccer team soundly beat the USA in their opening Copa game, and I'm still hearing about it from my wife. She doesn't even like sports but she does enjoy teasing me.

Summer Olympics - it will be USA

Winter Olympics especially men's and women's hockey - will always be Canada. During the last winter Olympics, I made a bet with my husband that Canada would take gold in men's/women's hockey. He of course had a lapse of judgement and thought that the US would win. Well, he was wrong. He had to run down our street with a big ole Canadian flag and a sign on his front and back

Wow! And I thought my wife's teasing was bad. It ain't nothing compared to what your husband endures. Poor guy.

Oh man.... that is hilarious! I might have to think of something similar if he says England will beat USA in something! I would sadly not root for USA over England in Men's football(soccer) though, even though he always says that England chokes... I just don't know if our team is strong enough! All other Olympic sports though it's on, including our Women's football team!!!
