Hi all,

I thought I'd update you on timeframes for EAD cards being received after being sent out by USCIS, just to help set expectations. Some have received their cards already on the same day, and on the USCIS case tracker I can see that somebody else's card was sent the same day as mine and was received 2 days later.

That isn't the case with mine. My EAD case was approved on August 19th 2016. My status changed to "Card has been mailed to me" on Tuesday 23rd August 2016. My EAD card status changed to "Card was picked up by the United States Postal Service" on August 25th 2016. The USPS tracking number started working on that day and indicated that the card was sent with 2-day USPS Priority Mail so it should have arrived on Saturday 27th August 2016. I still haven't received the card on Sunday 28th August 2016. Indeed, it was on schedule to arrive on Saturday but something seems to have gone awry in Memphis TN haha. Specifically, nothing has happened after it departed Memphis TN early Saturday morning.

Here is the latest I've got on my case from the USPS tracker:

August 27, 2016 , 12:51 am: Departed USPS Facility, MEMPHIS, TN 38118
August 25, 2016 , 9:15 pm: Departed USPS Facility, KNOXVILLE, TN 37950
August 25, 2016 , 6:49 pm: Arrived at USPS Origin Facility, KNOXVILLE, TN 37950
August 25, 2016 , 5:34 pm: Accepted at USPS Origin Facility, CORBIN, KY 40701
August 25, 2016 , 4:11 pm:Shipment Accepted, CORBIN, KY 40701
August 25, 2016: Pre-Shipment Info Sent to USPS
The Expected Delivery Day still reads as Saturday, August 27, 2016.

Hopefully, the delay and loss of tracking will just because it arrived in a local hub too late to be dealt with by USPS and wasn't scanned on arrival - I assume it is just sitting in a bag/box waiting to be scanned or moved into position. I'm hoping that USPS will scan it into the the system on Monday morning, hopefully for delivery Monday too. If not, I might call USPS on Monday afternoon if there are no updates on the system. I have the USPS app, another Parcel Tracking app, and the USPS Dashboard set up for text/email alerts so I'll know when there is movement (i.e. that the EAD package has been scanned in somewhere).

I'm not worried yet but thought I'd set some expectations that it might not arrive exactly on time even after being sent out haha. Hopefully, I'll have it in hand early this upcoming week, I want to book some international flights and I want confirm that the EAD is actually a combo card with a multi-entry AP (it should be haha but I want to see it just to be sure!)

Simon.

I think those that are adjusting with K1 Visas are getting approved faster than any other categories. Some with even no interviews needed. My wife overstayed by 2 years. I know the overstay doesn't affect the decision but I feel like it might. So she's just frustrated ATM. And paranoid I might add

me too adjusting from B2 and not overstay

So much difference in the different cases! Unpredictable. I do hope your card comes in the mail today!! And yes, let us know if it is a combo card :)

I read on other threads that people even went traveling as soon as they received the confirmation their EAD and AP were approved, and had their spouses send the card to them via UPS. Apparently you don't need the card leaving the country but only as you enter.

I can't seem to copy it but you can google Skinner Box to show how we can be conditioned to do certain things....

Very interesting!! And yes, they certainly got me to do things I wouldn't normally do, like checking my status, but I am resisting haha

You only need the AP for when your going threw US customs and you don't do that until you enter the country... EAD only applies for reentry into the US therefore you have no purpose having it to enter a different country or to leave the US Edited by Moslund

We spoke to a Tier 2 officer again today to clarify some of the questions we had. She was very kind and asked us if we wanted to do an expedite on the AP again, even before I could ask anything! So we did :) still not a guarantee but it feels so much better.

She also said that: no, the clock did not start all over! It was on hold. so I'm at day 63. But since we had the RFE, the 90 days for them to process the EAD and AP switches to 120 days. She was so kind, I could kiss her! She had an accent so must have gone through the process herself, and know what it means to be waiting.....

It still doesn't mean I will get my AP in time so I am working on other possible solutions for my situation as well.

The tracking started updating again this morning as it eventually was scanned in somewhere nearby. It is currently in the post office and hasn't left for delivery yet so I assume that I'm not getting the card today. It doesn't matter really; I'm not looking to travel anywhere in the next month or so - I'm going to be travelling outside the US in October, November and December (all short trips, so won't exceed the US residency requirements, all just work and family stuff).

Yes, I had heard about people leaving without the AP in hand but having it produced. It wasn't relevant in my case so I didn't even consider this option.

I don't expect anything other than a combo card for the EAD and multi-entry AP but I always like to be sure in this instance, particularly given I will be travelling out and back into the US at least twice in the next few months (I'm still hoping that the Green card might come through prior to my trips though I'm unsure if that is realistic given that my I-485 is still on 'Fingerprint Fee Received' despite being around Day 86.
