Yes it was. ..

At what stage did you request an expedite? Im just curious because our cc dates are 1 day apart and so are our interview dates. My case wasn't expedited. Did you get a letter from nvc or embassy saying your expedite request was approved?

My family was denied at the Abu Dhabi Embassy for IR2 visa.

First frustrating thing was that I went there with them and was not allowed to come inside. There is nowhere to wait or bathroom to use and it's over 100 degrees out by 8am.

Anyways, the immigration officer asked my wife where I was, she told him outside the building, and he told her I can not sponsor because I am not in the USA. I've just reread all the directions, I provided plenty of evidence that I am intending to domicile in the USA. I have bought a house and car there, I have a drivers license, bank account, credit card, I have quit my job in the UAE and have a job coming up in the USA very soon. I provided evidence of all that with my I864, following the direction on page 4 of their instructions. I'm meeting the support requirements by assets, so the fact I am currently unemployed should not matter.

They told my wife to get a co-sponosr. However, I only have two family members in the USA and neither are in an economic position to sponsor three people.

Nobody at the embassy will help me on the phone. I'm at a loss what to do at this point. My family cannot stay the UAE, my employer has cancelled our visas because my employment is ending.

I know. Waiting near the end of the immigration process seems more difficult than all the initial waiting earlier in the process. I know Nairobi is super busy processing visas for I believe 4 or 5 countries so I am sure that is why they get so backed up. Best of luck to you as you wait. I hope you hear something still this month!

I din't know 4 or 5 countries that has to be a lot...... anywayz, thx! Good luck to you too!

I finally was able to get someone on the phone at the embassy. Long story short, it is almost impossible to prove you can support via assets. I wish I'd known this a year ago when I started this process, the I864 instructions and I864P form seem to suggest you can use assets, but at the embassy it will not be allowed.

Don't lose hope now! You can get a cosponsor. Did they give you a time frame at the embassy of how long they could give you to get the documents? You should be allowed 30 days after your employment ends to stay in the country.

How often will the embassy "touch" your case prior to your interview. My interview is July 19th and our case was touched yesterday and today.

Mine was touched 3 times: the day it arrived in the embassy, the first day of this month and the day of the interview.

Oh okay. Well then if I'm including the day it arrived it's been touched 4 times. The day it arrived, I sent in something so they updated my file and then yesterday and today. That's a lot of touching ?. I still have 19 more days till the interview.

No idea how long they will give me to get the documents. Embassy and post office is going be closed for Eid holiday until July 10th so nothing can be done until then. They said at this point it would be very difficult to switch embassies.

Staying in the country is not a concern. It's actually not a crime to overstay in the UAE, you just need to pay them on your way out for the overstay. Anyways, I'm never coming back here ever in my life so as long as I can board the aircraft I'll be fine.
