Yes my parents are going to get married in Mexico he is LPR and I hope that helps does anyone know if it would affect my father when he becomes a citizen. If it helps my father is going next week to marry my mother but first I need to fine an attorney that will help me with the case the one I had charge me eight thousand and this happen.

Tax situation could be a complication, sounds like that is dodgy to say the least.

But agree quickest route is to get married, prepare the waiver and then file based on the existing petition but with the new Husband as the QR.

Should take less than a year.

WOW!!!! i think if you explained that the lawyer gave you this advice and said to go home people would understand more! sometimes people on here get scared to tell the entire story, but it really helps with understanding where you are at:)

You need to fire that lawyer and it should not have cost 8k for this mess!!! 8k is what Laurel Scott charges for a waiver!!!! that lawyer gave you the worst advice possible, because it separated your family and put you guys in a terrible position of no mother, when their is no law that allows your family currently to be together.

you should call either Lizz Cannon or Laurel Scott.. they are the BEST for waivers!!!!! Lizz Cannon i spoke with and she is very nice and gives great advice! but i would make sure to tell them the entire story and what your lawyer advised you to do ect.. so that they can best help you!!! Lizz Cannon will charge you around 4k for the waiver i believe

It won't affect your father negatively at all. He'll be able to naturalize.

Just curious...did your mother enter the U.S. with a visa all those years ago? And how did the father get his greencard? Did he marry someone else? Divorced now? Able to marry again?

he could have if they were together, USC can file for married children, so if they were together at that time, they could have married a long time ago and she could have gotten her gc through your grandmother as long as she was a USC
