Hi there! I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if they can tell me what they did next or if it effected their application?

My entire purse was lost and I'm not too sure where I lost it. It had my wallet, health card, drivers licence, passport, birth certificate.... everything!

I'm at the point in the process where I'm just waiting to go in for my interview. How is this going to work? When I apply for a new passport it will have a different passport number... what should I do? Thank you!

I got a new passport after the appointment was set and just before the interview. The official looking over the paperwork looked a little flustered at first, until I realized he couldn't match the numbers so I explained I had it renewed so I would have a fresh one in the US. Only thing he said was "smart move".

I had my passport marked with an "replaces passport #" sticker. (could be a dutch option). He never even looked at that one.

You may want to bring some paperwork that confirms you have it reported missing though.

You really don't have many options, you need to present a valid passport at the interview. Did you file a police report, that it was lost? As others have mentioned, get a new passport. At the interview, present the new passport, and detail the circumstances. This is where a police report number would corroborate your story.

Good luck on you immigration journey.
