Hi everybody!! As I was preparing the paperwork of my wife's (petitioner) parents for the AOS package, I noticed that their household size would be 7 with me (beneficiary) which means that they got to make about 45 thousand a year to be be able to support me. So far we're using only her dad as the joint sponsor (he makes about 44 thousand a year) Giving this information, do you guys think it would be enough for NVC to approve our I-864 form? or the additional 1 thousand is really that important?

plus, should my wife's mom who also works but makes a bit more than her dad (by 1 or 2 thousand) need to be the joint sponsor instead of her dad?, or it would make more sense to add her as a household member by also submitting the I-864A and include her income? (together they make about 85 thousand)

What do you guys think? BTW, they file a joint tax return

I am not sure how you get to a ~85k combined if you make the statements that he makes ~44k and she makes a couple of more (1 to 2k more) which would be at least 45k+ which equals an ~89k total not 85k?!

Lastly its not the salary/year that the individual makes they are looking for; its the net income per individual per year, so what are you referring to when you say they make 44k and 45k+ respectively, their salaries or net income?

my parents in law get a pay check every 1 week with a "Year to date" gross income number on each, can we use this number to calculate their current individual income for the I-864 form?

if yes, how can I calculate this?

Posted

Multiple the gross pay of the check times 52 if they have a steady income. If the income is variable, yes you could calculate it based on the current gross pay to date.

How is he or she wrong? There are 52 weeks in a year and if you get xxx amount every week steadily, you just multiply by 52. That gives annual income.

thanks for replying but, what if they didn't work the whole month or took a few days off... can I still use the "Year to date" amount to determine the current annual income?

On our joint sponsor's I-864 form, should we check the box that says" I am the only joint sponsor" even though we are also attaching an I-864A with it? or check the box that says "I am the first joint sponsor"

what are you guys saying??

this is really important for us!!

Yes. Most businesses have paid vacation time. Essentially its $$/hr x avg hrs per week x 52 weeks per year = current yearly income.

That's what I did! My fiance had his interview in January so we got lucky and were able just to use my "Year to Date" wages from my last paycheck in December to get an exact number.

no because there is not 4 weeks in every month. There are, however, 52 weeks per year.

can I do this instead: weekly income times 4 times 12 ?

If she hasn't gotten a raise then likely it would be the same. But it's not that hard to figure out in the manner I've described. A day off here and there isn't a big deal in the scheme of things. Most people take a day off here and there for various reasons.
