Theoretically, moving should not affect the process as long as you fill out the AR-11. Please check to confirm whether you can do it online or maybe it has to be filled on paper forms of you have a pending case. Seems there are different rules but I'm not sure. Now, practically, I suggest you wait for that extension letter and biometrics appointment letter before moving. Waiting one or two weeks can save you unnecessary headache.

Hello everyone!

I've been reading VJ for a while, but this is the first time I am posting anything (just decided to join).

I sent my ROC package on 4/27/2016, it was received the next day, and I was freaking out a little bit about not having heard anything back from them yet, but I suppose a lot of people are in the same situation.

Still, I can't help but feel anxious about having to go through this process again (it is not fun!). I have added myself to the list.

ROC

27-April 2016 - I-751 mailed

28-April 2016 - ROC packet received at Vermont Service Center

19-May-2016 - NOA (I-797) received (dated 4/29/2016)

14-June-2016 - Biometrics appointment in Birmingham, AL

02-May-2017 - Approved! (Approval letter received on 06-May-2017)

18-May-2016 - Received new Green Card in the mail

Eosorio, what you have done is APPLY for the 10-year Green Card. They will look at everything you sent in and decide whether to give you the 10-year green card. This takes 5 to 6 months, so in the meantime, they give you the I-797 letter. If your 2-year card expires, then you use the card and the letter until you get your 10-year card.

Good luck!

If you need to travel after 27 of June, have your expired Green Card and the Letter with you, and use them together. You will NOT receive another card until you get your 10-year Green Card.

It's OK to travel.
