You guys are not listening. All I said was that if something is made illegal it would have to have a punishment attached to it, and that's all Trump was saying as well. A crime no matter what it is has to have a punishment attached to it.

You are also interpreting that I am anti abortion and I am not. If my 1st wife didn't get one I may have been on the hook for child support for a kid that wasn't mine.

That wasn't all Donald Drumf was saying. He specifically said that abortion should be illegal and therefore women should be punished for getting abortions. His later backtracking doesn't mean that his original statement is all better now, it's just another example of Drumf showing off his extremist points of view and total disregard for the rights of others.

This issue shows one reason why it makes it difficult for many, like me, to call themselves republicans. I guess the number one rule to be a republican is to be pro-life or just pretend to be pro-life.

In the hypothetical situation that he responded to, I agree 100% that if abortion was illegal, the woman should be punished and I would also add that the doctor should be punished.

The pro-life position is that abortion is murder. The person who chooses to carry out that murder is the woman. She alone makes that choice. Yet the pro-lifers want to give someone who they believe ,is committing murder ,a free pass.

This simplistic , reductionist , absolutist view that pro-life position says the abortion = murder is not accurate. A variety of folks have pro-choice or pro-life viewpoints that go far beyond the view point that abortion is or is not the malicious taking of a life.

If one has not invested the time to think the problem through, as Donald Trump has not thought any of his major issues through, then it is easy to fall into the the trap that was laid by Chris Matthews.

I consider myself pro life but not an abortion is murder pro lifer. Women are going to make their choices legal or not. If abortion becomes illegal, do they not see taxes, food stamps and welfare possibly going up too?
