I am still not clear about 2015 tax return. How are you guys sending the documents to NVC? Do you have your 2015 tax return filed as 'married filing jointly'? Will extension receive a RFE? Extension reason will be : to have the wife back in US and get the SSN number and file the return.

We already have our extension and W2 ready to send to NVC

Why would you get a checklist for an extension? Reason for extension? There's no need for all that. It's none of NVC's concern why you filed an extension.

just submit your 2015 extension and W2, 2014 and 213 tax information. That's it.

Only those who immigrant spouse has a SSN or ITIN ca file MFJ. We should all be filing MFS or HOH if you have a qualifying dependent.

You know the weird thing that happened to me was similar to what Amachuma was saying. When I called to get my case and IIN, they said to wait till I got the welcome email before starting the form. I got excited and completed the DS-261 that night anyway. The next day, early afternoon, I called to have them review it over the phone and the lady kept saying she can't review it because it "hasn't been sent to (me)" yet. I told her I completed it the night before so not sure what she means by "not being sent" yet. She just kept repeating herself. However, an hour later I received the welcome email and the AOS fee was invoiced. Then when I called I got a different person and she was able to review the DS-261 with me over the phone. I don't know if the two are connected or if it was a coincidence that after the welcome email was sent they were able to review it with me via phone.

Ditto !

Question please. The police report and birth certificate from my husband does it have to be original copies or can he scan it to me so I can print it? And send to NVC. Should I tell him to go get the police report done now? He said it can be ready in 3 days or so.

Thanks

If you have completed the DS-261, call NVC and ask them to review it with you over the phone. Once they do that, within 24 hours the IV fee will be invoiced. once that fee shows "paid" the IV application will be unlocked for you to complete and submit online.

NVC only needs copies of all documents unless they specifically request the original. The original + copies of the originals need to be taken to the Interview.

Have him get the PCC and all other required documents now so when it's time to submit the documents you're not waiting on anything.

From the petitioner and joint sponsor, each, you will need:

  1. Signed Form I-864
  2. The most recent tax transcript or return is REQUIRED. Three most recent tax transcripts or tax returns, if preferable.
  3. Proof of income or employment, such as: Employment letter, Pay stubs, W-2, etc.
  4. Proof of US Citizeship or Permanent Resident status (just for the Joint Sponsor)

Check out AOS step at the NVC Process Wiki, it is very informative.

Did anyone notice a Surname change on CEAC.com? My maiden name never appeared until today. I now carry my spouse's last name and we filed all paperwork with new surname. Weird...did that happen with anyone else?

He doesn't have to didn't make enough so on the 2015 amount he made $0 and a explanation. Did not make enough to qualify to file.

You have joint sponsors right? And you have all your domicile paperwork ready?

Thanks for the answer! Yes, we have my husband's father as a joint sponsor. We've got the following for domicile paperwork:

- TX drivers license

- Bank account statement

- Debit card statement

- Voter registration card

All with the same permanent US address (his parents', which is where we'll stay when my visa comes through). We might also add a cover letter for one of the jobs he'll be applying for, but as he's not written any yet I don't know. I hope what we have is enough, or are we missing something important?

My scan date was February 8th. I got a checklist. They want to see proof that my offences didn't goto court. Oh well. Have to stay positive.

Good luck all, and all you Feb 8th scan dates. You should get case complete anytime now.
