Hey guys...I had my interview earlier.

Boy was it a circus in there (there was a naturalization ceremony being held today)

Apt was @ 11:35am...we arrived at 11:25am (walking distance-15 min walk)

Got up to the second floor and it was still packed. Checked in and waited FOR AN HOUR before we were called in.

We basically stayed in the interview room for like 5 mins.

Upon arrival he greeted us and made mention of how swamped they are today and apologized.

He then asked for my husband's driver's license and naturalization certificate. He was asked majority of the questions.

He then proceeded to asking me for my drivers license, birth certificate, passport and marriage certificate. Then asked me like 3 questions. And then he asked if I have any more evidence of relationship (I gave him an updated bank statement, additional photos and doctor's information stating that we are expecting. ..he made a copy of that)

Then he said that's about it and he needs to go over the file and if we are needed for another interview they will notify us or if we are approved will get it in the mail.

I was not expecting to get an on-the-spot approval since I'm B2 but I did leave the room feeling hopeful. So I'm back to the waiting game. Lol

Questions asked.

Husband:

Name

Address

How did he become a citizen

Who filed for his green card

Does he have any kids (yes)

Where does she live

How did we meet

Did we grow up together

Me:

Name

Address

Did you ever commit a crime

The end!

My partner and I had our interview today (May 25) in Sacramento, CA. We arrived 15 minutes before our 10:30 AM appointment. Walking into the building, we showed our driver's licenses, went through security check/metal detector, checked in with the front office clerk by giving her the appointment letter, then waited about 30 minutes before being called in for the actual interview.

The interviewer asked us to identify the applicant and the sponsor. Then, he instructed me and my partner to raise our right hands to swear that we would tell the truth (you know, the usual stuff). He asked for my EAD/AP card and passport, and my partner's driver's license. Then, the interviewer asked us the following questions:

1. (to me) When did you become a Canadian citizen?

2. How/when/where did you meet?

We said we met through match.com, and he said "oh, I know someone who's using this online dating app called tinder" -- haha, maybe it's him using that app. Needless to say, our interviewer was pretty cool and outgoing. He asked for specific dates on when we started chatting and when we actually met in person. My partner and I basically took turns filling in the details. I think this first question kinda' sealed the deal :) especially when we told him that we got married one year after we met -- the same exact day, the same exact place where we first met, and pretty much the same time of the day.

3. State your date of birth and address. Both of us were asked this question.

4. The interviewer showed my partner a signature that was on the submitted I-864 Form (Affidavit of Support / Sponsorship) and asked him to confirm that it was indeed his signature. The interviewer said (jokingly) that he wanted to make sure that I (the green card applicant) was not the one who signed that form.

5. Using the completed forms that I submitted, he went through all the yes/no questions (around 20 of them) that were on the I-485 Form about criminal convictions, illegal activities, etc. My answer to all those questions was NO. I guess he just wanted to confirm those answers.

6. He asked for "joint" documents. At first, he mentioned W2s, lease, etc. but I didn't bring those. What I brought were: 2015 IRS tax script that shows joint tax filing, my car insurance where I am the primary driver and my spouse's name is listed under the household/family members, and a record of our joint savings account.

At this point, he was basically saying that I should get my green card within three weeks but he thinks I should get it much earlier than that, but he didn't want to overpromise :) He said that because we've only been married for less than two years, my green card would be conditional, and that I should be getting another letter when it comes time to remove the condition. I think he said after two years.

6. He asked for photos (which he said he almost forgot to ask). We showed him our wedding album; he picked one photo and asked who the person is in the picture. Out of the dozens of pictures in our wedding album, he picked a picture of me and my spouse with our wedding photographer - LOL. I made copies of some of our wedding pictures and other photos from our honeymoon/vacation and from hanging out with friends just in case the interviewer wants to keep them for his file. And, he did ask to keep some pictures, so I gladly handed off a couple of pictures from our wedding as well as photos from our honeymoon, vacations, and photos with some of our closest friends.

He asked us if we had any questions. Only one question from me: I asked what I needed to do with the TN1 card that was attached to my passport. He basically said it is no longer valid, so he just unstapled it from my passport.

Overall, it was quick and easy. The interviewer was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. It only took less than 10 minutes (might have been 5 minutes actually), then he shook our hands and off to lunch we go...

I'd like to thank all of you who post in this forum. Lots of very useful information here - again, thank you... And best of luck to those who are still waiting. Hang in there!!!

If anybody has any questions I can answer, I'd be happy to do that....
