My point of entry was 8th January. I need to know how long it will take to receive my green card and social security Number. I requested for social security number in ds-260 and I paid for green card after interview(in Canada). Thanks

Two to four weeks for the Social Security Card (if you don't have it in four weeks, you need to go in person to your local office).

Four to twelve weeks for the Green Card. I think we got our in Week 5.

Good luck!

Looks like the OP interviewed in Canada, so it seems appropriate.

Green Cards are taking around 4 to 6 weeks. My husband enter the country Aug 19 and didn't send off for the green card until Dec 11th.. He received it Jan 16th a total of 6 weeks. Remember we had two holidays in-between as well..

SSN card he went into the office Aug 22 and received the card the same week. Monday went in and Friday received.

Just because you filled out the DS form doesn't mean they will send it to you automatically. You will need to still go in.. Everyone I know that waited would've have still been waiting if they hadn't asked me. Good luck

~~moved to general immigration discussion with other like topics from Canada regional forum.

Reason for the move: It doesn't matter where someone interviews the process to obtain the green card after arrival is the same for all visa classes who gain a green card upon arrival.~~

Received SSN Card automatically 10 days after POE (2Dec15). Date of issue of card was 2 days after arrival. So the system works in some cases. Will post when I receive my green card.
