I have a situation. I intended on being in the US for a short time 1.5 months, I was granted until then ticket date I booked - my return.

However I now have an offer to do a internship where the company may hire me under TN after I am completed a 3 month internship.

I have to return in a month and a half, is there something I can do to stay the full internship?

To answer you both. I'm going to be given the offer tomorrow but I know they need me for 3 months and I just passed customs today so I'm already going to be in the US. Someone told me doing an internship is illegal without visa.. still considered work yet I did one in September and was given 6 months. I told them I was going back for a month or so and to see my friends. So I got stuck with buying a ticket on my mobile phone and they gave me the return date of Feb 24. If I'm offered an I term ship I'm scared to ask the company or tell them there are issues with my stay period.

It's an unpaid internship. Should I have them give me a formal letter with those details and you think there's something I can do while being in the US?

Unusual you can do an internship as a visitor.

Are you saying you spent 6 months in the USA, left for a month, and are now back?

That would be the reason they only gave you to your return ticket date; you cannot use the tourist visa to life in the USA, and right now, it looks like you want to spend 9 out of ten months in the US.

ouch

Should have said you can NOT do an internship as a visitor.

There are a few exceptions.
