I have to attend a TB program later this August. Got a nice yellow sheet from the TN Department of Health, B2 TB is circled. Woa, after 21 years they still want to see a "negative" result. The lady on the phone did assure me they won't skin test me because that'll show up positive. Thanks for the warm welcome, America

Sorry for the hassle, but TB Is definitely not taken lightly here as the health concerns involved are significant. I'm a dental hygienist and it's on our higher list of concerns... Special rooms and all.

At least you're here already and not doing it alone!!! Good luck!

I mean, it's ok. I'm not that much of a complainer or taking it way too offensively, however, it has been 21 years and I have no sign of any TB in my body (never had it). Multiple doctors have cleared that out back in the Netherlands.

And you're right! Thank you!

By the way, how exactly do I know about my I-94? Is that the stamp in my passport with written; K1, october 26, 2016? And I could check somewhere if I'm already in the base for SSN, right?

And I thought our wait was long.. I'm very sorry to hear this. I assume you have made inquiries and contacted your senator by now, it didn't help anything? :(

It's when you wait that long that you get really happy over an RFE, then at least you know your case is located and being worked on.. But obviously I'll cross my fingers that you get a NOA2 instead.

I submitted an inquiry as to why my case is outside of normal processing time. They responded to the inquiry as of August 1. I called today and spoke to an agent.

Basically, they said they have submitted a security check, and they are waiting for the results of the security check. It could be 3 more months before they make a decision on my case. I asked "When did you submit the security check?" the response from the agent was "I don't know. I would have to ask the officer who is handling your case, and I don't have that information."

The agent on the phone said they can't move forward with my case until they get the results back from the security check. Every case goes thru the security check, some take longer than others.

This would help explain why we see some applications approved ahead of others, even though they were submitted later.

The agent told me, basically, sit back and wait ... up to 3 more months......

I wonder if USCIS is making security checks on the petitioner only? Or both petitioner and beneficiary?

I asked the agent on the phone this question. The answer was a little vague, like "Everyone must pass the security check."

I think that means both the petitioner and beneficiary must pass security.

Hi everone!

I'm back on this thread after a little while and just caught up the last 15-20 pages of conversation I had missed!!

Congratulations to the few of you who already got married!! <3

I'll be flying to the US in a week, this Friday is my last day of work, and my fiancé just got yesterday the keys of our new apartment!! Hard to believe this is now the time for the big change!! Very excited!

I was checking on the next paperwork and wanted to double check with you:

- I understood by reading some of you that you can apply for your Social Security card even before getting married? So they just need the K1 visa and I-94 when you go apply for it at the SS office?

- I plan on taking my fiancé's last name after getting married. So I guess I'll have to fill in all of the next paperwork (I-485, I-131, I-765) with my new name (and the marriage certificate will be a proof of my new name, as the name on my passport will be different) Has anyone already done this?

- and finally, just to make sure: in order to get married you simply need to: fill in an "application for marriage license" at least 72 hours before the wedding date (can be in a different city than the city where you'll get married). The both of us need to be present to fill in the marriage licence application and simply bring an ID, and the license will be issued on that same day. In case I forgot something don't hesitate to add anything to this ;)

Thank you!

Seems like it, yes. I found this step-by-step text on their webpage explaining the process a little:
