Dogs actually did this work in WW2.

The russians strapped explosives on to dogs and trained them to run under tanks. There was a pole like switch and when it hit the tank it would detonate the dog.

Slight flaw though. They used Russian tanks to train the dogs...so in battle I think you can see where this is heading..
