Dear all,

I am Romanian and also a US Citizen for the past 6 years, i have friend from Romania who would like to visit me in the US, but i am not sure how could i increase his chances of getting a visa.

Would it be better if i would sponsor him or should he just apply for a regular visitor without my help?

Thank you and i am looking forward to your suggestions. .

hi

you can't sponsor him, there is no sponsoring for tourist visas,

he must qualify based on his own merits, and show strong ties to his country, he must prove that he has no immigrant intent and that he has to return to his country

hi

an invitation means nothing at this moment, thousands have come and stayed abusing their tourist visa, you can send him an invitation, but he must prove strong ties to his country, showing that he must return that he doesn't have immigrant intent

now anyone applying for a tourist visa is seen as someone trying to immigrate, that's why he must prove strong ties to his country and convince the immigration officer that he will not stay

There is no such thing as sponsoring a tourist visa. The process is the same whether or not you have someone willing to sponsor you, the only difference could be a "letter of invitation" which carries no weight and might actually count against the applicant if it shows ties to the US.

All applicants must qualify on their own merits, including intentions, ties to home country, and finances.
