We went yesterday to my wife's Biometrics appointment for her GC, went smooth her appointment time is at noon so the Service center was empty..

Lets see if the onlien status of her case udpates in a few days, it still says Fingerprint fee received.

Another wait time if interview or no interview...hopefully the latter.

2 days prior she did her first job interview...now waiting hopefully she get called again for a 2nd one.

If you have records of your vaccinations, you never need to get them again. I don't believe you need a medical examination after AOS or initial/conditional GC issuance anyhow. Even if the issue were to come up, you can always get a blanket waiver for any additional vaccines. I believe that my husband's medical was accepted without the complete set of vaccinations because his age qualified him for a 'blanket waiver'. You should be good.

Thanks again Amhara!!! This is great! One more question, did you cancel your husband's health insurance after getting his PR since PR might be cheaper? I'm thinking if that will work since I've signed up during EAD and it was costly.

No, we have coverage through my job and while it's about double what I was paying before we married, the price hasn't changed (and it's been worth it). Health insurance is very costly! If you need to get it through independent means, I would highly suggest researching and shopping around. I know the penalty to go without is expected to increase, and that whole marketplace thing seems very overwhelming!

Anyone know anything about tax forms for a new job? I'm supposed to fill out a form for my job and it's asking my country of tax residence? As far as I know, I'm no longer obligated to submit tax information to Canada as I have emigrated.

Country of Tax Residence:

Although you may pay tax in the U.S., your Country of Tax Residence CANNOT be the U.S. Your Country of Tax Residence is generally the country to which you owe tax on your "worldwide" income. Typically, your Country of Tax Residence is the same as your Country of Permanent Residence; however, if you have lived in a country other than your Country of Permanent Residence immediately before coming to the U.S. to study/work, you may have established Tax Residency in that country.

I'm not sure about that but you may want to try asking Nich-Nick in Tax & Finance forum. But do come back here and let us know! I really want to find out about that too!

I'm still trying to look for a job, been busy with excursions with parents but still looking daily, hopefully I am looking forward to work around end of June

So, our GC interview is next Wednesday.. which my husband cannot make as he's running a 2-day workshop at work. As luck would have it, the field office called ME about correcting an error in my address and I explained this to the IO while on the phone. He said to write to the field office at Santa Clara (registered mail, confirmed receipt) explaining this but I haven't heard a peep out of them about rescheduling.

What should I do?

I know that missing the appointment means denial of my I-485 and the start of removal proceedings. Is it best to just turn up alone on the scheduled day with a copy of my letter, the proof of receipt and explain what's happened? I can't seem to find a number to call them back on (their call came from a blocked number) and INFOPASS appointments are not available.

I am not an expert, since I had no interview, but I have heard from others that they went on their own and it was ok. Hopefully one of them can give you a better answer!

BUT - does it say on your interview letter whether or not both of you should come?

Yes, both of us must attend as this is a marriage-based adjustment of status.

I can offer little informed help, but in my interview the IO paid little to no attention to my husband and only two questions, one to me and one to him. I would say going alone is better than not going at all by a country mile. Perhaps take a letter from his employer saying why he can't be there and inundate the IO with supporting evidence. If they won't allow you to be interviewed alone at least you're there and you can try and schedule another one.

Just a thought: does it not say anywhere on the letter that you can reschedule if you can't make it? Or has the time limit for that passed now? I seem to remember something to that effect on my letter though I could very well be wrong.

K1 Journey - 5 months and 1 day

AOS Journey - 4 months 4 days

ROC Filed - Jan 30 2018

ROC Delivered - Feb 1 2018

NOA date - Feb 7 2018

Conditional Green Card expires April 26 2018.

I wrote to the relevant USCIS field office last month and requested that the interview be rescheduled but have not, as yet, received a response. Hence this uncertainty.

I've assembled all of the evidence requested in the interview notice but would be lacking one rather important piece of 'evidence' at the interview: my spouse. And yup, I thought of getting a letter from his employer. They - or, specifically, his boss - said that "our personal lives [are] not her concern" and refused when my husband asked for such a letter - then reminded him that he'd be fired if he missed any part of the event happening next week without her explicit prior authorization.

Such a charming lady.
