Really frustrating to a wife that just had 10days (for the wedding) with husband since I got here thru k1 as he has to go back work overseas. I need GC to follow him there... Will have my behind the wheel test on the 28th, hope I passed...

That does sound awful! Hopefully you don't feel tooisolated. Where's your behind the wheel test at? I did mine in North park. It wasn't too awful. I wanted poway but I didn't want to wait that long. If your interview will be in San Diego than we would be in the same place. I'm in Mira Mesa.

Yeah keeping busy is hard. I went to a movie alone yesterday just for something to do. MIne didn't take me on the freeway at all and the parking was just pulling up to a curb and having to back up along it. I had a few minor errors but passed it. I thought about San Marcos but took what was available first that was on a day my husband was off. I'm just glad it's done and I have a car and a bit of freedom to do what I want during the day. I still need to find a job though.

I'm having a hard time coping with different side of the driving seat. My left hand just automatically tries to reach to the side for gear. And when I sit on passenger side, I often goes to the driver's seat instead. :ranting::rofl:

Been looking for jobs at indeed and glassdoor at my area, its so difficult without a car! The job areas are so limited. I really hope I can pass my DL soon. My parents will be visiting next week, my dad is allowed to drive since hes a tourist, I think he is way better than me in driving

I received my EAD card few days before job interview. Got the job offer a week after. Then I went through all the pre-employment process especially the intense background check. I received the NOA for the interview two weeks ago. Things are moving really fast and getting really excited! Now I'm getting ready for the AOS interview in two weeks. Getting all the evidences such as lease agreement, joint accounts bank statements, insurances, utilities bills, photo album, copies of everything. Is there anything else i should prepare before the interview?

I've got my interview tomorrow and am starting to get a little nervous! The evidence I've compiled is a copy of our lease agreement, our 2015 tax return, joint bank account statement, car insurance in both our names, joint gym membership, a card from his grandpa welcoming me to the family (addressed to both of us) and our joint phone bill. I've put together a small photo album with photos from our civil ceremony and when my family came to visit in the front, then other photos with each others' family members and friends, then pictures of us dating all the way back to our first trip together in November 2013.

I've made copies of birth certificates and our passport biographical information pages as well as our marriage certificate. Also included a copy of my I-94 (again), all my NOAs, my EAD and AP paperwork and my vaccination sheet from the K1 doctor in London. I'm slightly stressing because it's a form DS-3025 and they ask for the I-693 on the interview letter (unless already submitted). I've been assuming since the DS-3025 worked when filing my documents that it'll carry me through the interview since it's really only the vaccinations they're after(?). I'll let you know tomorrow afternoon if I'm wrong!

I'm now wondering whether I should print out copies of all the forms I submitted with my AOS package as an extra precaution as well. It seems silly to get so wound up about it since there's absolutely nothing fraudulent about our relationship, but all this paperwork and having to prove ourselves stresses me out so much.

You seem well prepared so I think you will be fine for the interview tomorrow! My coworker went to the interview last November and the interviewer didn't look at the photos at all. I think they just want to see the marriage is legitimate with all the evidence. Lease agreement, joint account bank statements, and insurances would be the strong evidence.

I made copies of everything because they might screw up our application when they lost some of the documents. It's better to keep a copy for ourselves. I would bring all the medical and vaccination copies as well as the X-ray to interview even thought they have it all.

Good luck in your interview tomorrow!

Congrats on your job! How was the job search and interview, can you tell me more about the intense background check? I see that you're in seattle, thats somewhere I kinda want to move to or hope to move to in future!

During my interview, the officer only asked to see marriage cert, flip through bills that are under my name or both of our names, joint bank accounts, but look in detailed on your taxes filed jointly and lease agreement. He didn't look at any of the photos but did ask if we take any, we offered to show.

As long as your medical does not exceed a year, you are not required to take medical examination. DS3025 is sufficient. During my interview, I brought a copy of DS3025 that I've submitted, I printed the whole AOS package that I've submitted, and a new updated AOS package with tax submission, latest bills, new pics etc that were not included. The officer did not ask any of it but told us we MUST keep it for Removal of Conditions.

Thanks. It took quit a while to get what i want but it was stressful when you didnt hear anything from them. To be honest, the employment process will take longer than Singapre. About the background check, I think it depends on what company are you going to join. They will have more background check for bigger companies. Before joining the company, my company went through the background check such as credit check, international criminal check, employment drug test, education check, previous employments (For the last 5years), as well as the FBI fingerprints check. It took them a month to do all the background check. Seattle is lovely city and I'm loving it so far! There are couples of companies based in Seattle, you should check out companies like Amazon, Starbucks, and Microsoft.

Currently I'm staying in Georgia, with no driving license, my job search area is only around my husband's workplace or near home :( we only have one car for now.

Yeah, Singapore don't have to do background checks, they prob only just call your ex employer for reference.

When you refer to education check, how do they go about? Because I graduated from Australian degree, not sure if I need to do something on my side. As for previous employments, you mean they call up employers for last 5 years to check? I need to inform my employers if that's the case. Its kinda troublesome, not all employers are nice :(

Do they pay for your criminal check and drug test or do we have to pay a fee for it?

Over here, most good jobs are taken by Georgia Tech grads :(

I would love to go there someday, we really hope to look into Seattle or NY, but it really depends on my husband's job. I'll try to see if there's amazon office here in ATL. Thanks!

I havent been looking these two weeks, my parents are coming tomorrow, we will be going on tour for 2 months. Probably gonna start sending resumes again next month. I do really hope to get a job though, it is kinda frustrating when I can't buy extra stuffs like handbags, clothes etc and need to think twice on no income on my side.

Oh yes btw, I just received my Learner's Permit actual ID today.

So my interview yesterday was very straightforward. Once we were called in by the IO we swore to tell the truth and sat down. He then went over my i-485 form and made any updates (e.g. change of address) which I then signed off on. He then asked me the security questions they ask prior to K1 interview (have you ever committed crimes you weren't arrested for?/been deported?/tortured anyone?) which I wasn't expecting but obviously had no trouble with. He then asked where we met and how Zach proposed, and if we had any financial documents with both our names on. We then showed him our tax return and lease which he studied closely. We also gave him car insurance, phone bill and gym membership which he didn't take much notice of at the time but kept. He asked for a few photos from our ceremony and with family but only flicked through the first 5 or so photos in the 100 page album I'd put together!
He left the room to make copies of documents and photos for their file. When he got back he said we were good to go, and subject to one last security check I would be approved. Then told me to apply for ROC 90 days before the expiration date on the card and offered us an opportunity to ask questions. Sure enough, today my status updated to New Card Being Produced. So I guess that's it for me for 21 months!

As a side note, I went to my first Seder with my Jewish husband at the weekend where we ran into a very nosy and rather invasive immigration lawyer (friend of family). She was asking all kinds of questions about our case in a rather condescending tone and asked if I had any legal representation. I told her no, and that I'd been using this really helpful online forum called VisaJourney. The person to her right asked if she'd heard of it to which she replied, "No, I don't even look at these websites, they tend to leave stuff out". Safe to say I was getting kind of mad by this point, so for the sake of my new extended family I kept quiet. But LITTLE DOES SHE KNOW how wonderful and helpful this forum has been to so many people. So, folks, thanks on behalf of my bank account that I didn't have to pay someone to get all the information this forum has provided. What a treasure it is.
