Hi guys!! I finally got my visa!! Yay!! How ever, I noticed a few weird things on it. Hopefully someone can help me?

1) First thing, my was issued Oct 29 and it says expiration date Jan 15, however under annotation, it says petition valid until Sept 13..?

2) Under the name petitioner, they have my dads name. My fiancee isn't the one who is financially going sponsor me, my aunt is. I just dont understand why my dads name is there for petitioner. Shouldn't it be my fiancee or my aunt?

If you can help me clear up the confusion under the annotation section.. that would help a lot!

Oct 29 -- issue date (normal)

Jan 15 -- this is when visa expires. This is the same date when your medical expires. Visa is valid for the same amount as your medical, which i believe is 6 month (see this post for more info http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/433897-does-a-medical-exam-expire/ )

Sept 13 -- is expiration of your I-129F petition.

In short -- you have until Jan 15 in order to enter US.

2) Under the name petitioner, they have my dads name. My fiancee isn't the one who is financially going sponsor me, my aunt is. I just dont understand why my dads name is there for petitioner. Shouldn't it be my fiancee or my aunt?

Sorry - don't know this. You may want to contact the embassy to get clarification and to double check if this should be corrected. (also you may want to have the embassy extend I-129F expiration date)

I just checked my Visa and the petitioner is definitely my fiancé. Write an E-mail immediatly to the Frankfurt consulate that there is a mistake. They are very fast in responding to E-Mails

Do you also have a separate sponsor?

Thank you, I'll do this right away!!

You will be refused at POE. The I-129f petition has to be active at the time of entry regardless of visa expiration date. your petition will have to be re-validated by the embassy/consulate

2) Under the name petitioner, they have my dads name. My fiancee isn't the one who is financially going sponsor me, my aunt is. I just dont understand why my dads name is there for petitioner. Shouldn't it be my fiancee or my aunt?

The petitioner is your fiancee regardless of co-sponsor. This needs to be fixed. I also have a co-sponsor but my fiancee is the one listed there.

If you can help me clear up the confusion under the annotation section.. that would help a lot!

Are you 1000000% percent sure? Because I've been doing a lot of reading after I posted this and there was only one case in Montreal that wasn't allowed through at POE. Do you have any personal experience?

Technically not supposed to deny an entry based on expired petition.... but apparently someone was.... so as a safeguard everyone now recommends to ask for extension of petition as well (embassy does the extension)

Sounds good, I have to get the petitioners name changed anyway because... who really want to marry their dad? Might as well request a petition extension as well.:star:

I have seen only one POE entry being refused due to an expired petition date. Although technically that shouldn't be the case because the petition expiry date become irrelevant once you get the visa. The guy did contact the embassy afterwards and they re-issued him the visa.

Since there is an additional mistake on your visa as well, it would be better if you contact your embassy and ask for advice. better safe than sorry. Good luck
