In general or specifically about them or your case?

In general about the K-1 process.

As far as my case it was a waste of money to hire an attorney. I was on favor of using one but in the end it's wasted money. I think most people don't use one.

You can mention attorneys and ask for good ones on VJ, but we have no specific forum to discuss them. As mentioned above, most VJers do not use a lawyer as this is a DIY site, so the recommendations you get may be limited.

If you want to warn people away from a specific attorney, be very careful how you word that; facts only please (we sent him the docs on X date, he did not send it to USCIS until Y date...), so there is no danger of us having to remove it for badmouthing an attorney.

Agree w/ Penguin_IE. Not sure if you simply want to encourage people not to use one, id just heed Penguin_ie's post. Personally I think too many people here brazenly encourage people not to w/o remotely knowing truly their cases or level of commitment to learn and do the process on their own. Lawyers and visa services are very different...and plenty of people here IMHO could certainly still use visa services since they dont seem invested to really learn/do the work. I agree unless you have a difficult case/consulate/situation you dont really need a lawyer to process paperwork unless something bad happens...but you need to educate oneself if on your case/consulate/situation in order to make that decision.

You did not use one.

You do not think it would have helped in your case or have been worth the fees.

What is there to discuss?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

You did not use one. Incorrect, I did use one.

You do not think it would have helped in your case or have been worth the fees. You have a way of putting words into my situation. I did think it would have helped my case. It was the worst decision I have made, to use an attorney.

What is there to discuss?

. There can be lots to discuss if people want advice or a discussion. You may not personally have a need but others here do. There are many ways to get guidance to obtain a visa. This site I find good but many people are not on VJ. Many people use immigration lawyers. My lawyer claimed to be an expert but he was a total disaster and I am certain he learned more from my case than he put into it.
