Hey Guys,

i got a question about gathering my police certificates.

Im a german citizen and lived on and off in canada within the last 4 years.

2011-2012 for a whole year doing work and travel

2013 for about 7 months, same in 2014

following is what the embassy in frankfurt states about the police certificate:

"Every visa applicant aged 16 years or over, is required to submit a police certificate from the police authorities of each country of the applicant's nationality or current residence, where the applicant has resided for at least six months or longer, since attaining the age of sixteen. Police certificates must also be presented from all other countries where the applicant has resided for one year or longer. In addition, a police certificate must be obtained from the police authorities of every country where the applicant has been arrested for any reason, regardless of how long he or she lived there. Police certificates must cover the entire period of the applicant's residence in that specific
country. The certificate from your current country of residence must be of recent date (not older than 6 months) when presented to the consular officer."

So today i started looking for the easiest way to get to it but the gov. website of canada says that if you reside outside canada theres only one way and that is to through trusted agencies who want you to send them your fingerprints and such and they'll deal with the rcmp (canadian police) to provide you with your record. As most of the websites state this process could take quiet a while to get done. Since we are far into the k1 process already im afraid this would take too long.

I was in canada as a backpacker in 2011, than as a temporary foreign worker is there a way that i could talk to my embassy if theres a way around this.

i feel like this will hold me back. I know that there will be no entries and maybe this wont be such a drama as i think of right now.

anyone dealt with a similiar situation before?

Not having it will delay the visa issuance. Getting it will enable visa issuance. The choice seems obvious.

I was thinking the same, perhaps we are not understanding what you are asking.

Everybody has had to supply Police Certificates (s).

im just afraid it will take way too long to receive it from canada.

Your concern about the delay in obtaining the certificate(s) is understandable. However, as stated by others, you will still incur a delay if you go in without the Canadian police certificate. They will not take your word that there is nothing of concern and they will not excuse you from the requirement. They will hold a decision until the document is produced and reviewed. Your best option is to get started on the process of obtaining it, right away.

Edited, to say that hopefully others that have had to obtain the Canadian certificate can give you a more efficient way to do so.

Yes, a mixture of being a bit unsure what to do even if its obvious and a rant because it's really expensive to through an agencie to obtain this certificate since im doing this to be with my fiance it's going to be ok. I just hope it'll be something i do not have to worry about for a long time. Ill get on it by tomorrow.

There are 2 things that you can get from RCMP. One is called the criminal record check which is issued at the spot and the other one is with the fingerprints which takes about 2 weeks!

Ok heres my review:

In order to obtain the canadian police certificate i went with XL-Solutions Inc. an accredited companies within Canada who will digitize ink fingerprints and submit them electronically to the RCMP.

After ordering their download form for fingerprints i went to my local police station. At first this sounded kinda off to them, since i live rural i dont blame them at all.

They said they cant just take fingerprints and told me to go look elsewhere for help. That was pretty devastating because i didnt knew what to do next, since the instructions of the website explicitly stated to go see a local police officer. Well i didnt gave up and started researching and found a few people with same issue on other forums. Most of them said to contact the criminal investigation department. I remember that the police officer earlier said that they wont do anything because my case isnt something they would handle.

Anyway, i gave them a call and a very nice lady answered the phone. I told her that im in need of my police certificate from canada in order to send it to the US Embassy in Frankfurt. This only can be obtained if i get my fingerprints done on a document i already had printed out. She said hold on ill tranfer you to the department chief. When he answered the phone i had to explain all of the above again which was totally okay. He said "where you at" i said "close by but if there is no time today i totally understand and would shedule an appointment with you", he said "whats the embassy want with it?" i said "its for a fiance visa" he replied "you better hurry up, we need to help you asap!"

So i got my fingerprints done at NO! costs, which was indcredibly nice! So my prints are on their way to canada. The XL Solutions website says, if theres no entries it should take 7-9 business days to get processed.

Im relieved and super excited to move on. THank you guys!

Just a little update...

Got my Tracking Number yesterday. The Certificate is finally on its way to Germany.

So to EVERYONE who has to go trough this struggle. believe in yourself!!! you will get to it!

I am doing the same process with XL-Id, mine is being processed since the 5th of November, I hope to hear back from them soon and have my certificate ready. I also paid an extra $20 for them to email it to me before mailing it. Fingers crossed I will get it soon
