Husband gone on a trip back home

Due to:

  • conflicting advice from relatives (including her dad who was partly responsible for the present state of circumstances--as he had given the idea that she should come before 2007-04-01 in the first place) NOT to make hasty decision
  • fear of transferring "cold" from domestic to international at JFK (she has not been through that atrocious airport prior--and I could not find any workable way to accompany her there)
  • lack of desire to go ALONE (I don't have enough vacation time accumulated) to India anyway,

Pras decided to abandon the trip--and let the AP gov take its course (well, it DOES settle the matter).

Well, yup, Pedroh....we *have* been in that situation that you described...just about exactly...and NO, I'm NOT going to go into detail about it again (*probably many heaving a big sigh of relief) as I really do not EVER want to go down *that* road on VJ again...but just glad you threw in that "IMO" just to be very clear....because as long as you're not the one having to do it, then no probs what everyone else does, right??? :) M.

Indeed. You can't ask people to stop loving their family and home just because they also love their spouse. It's not an either/or situation. If I were living outside my home country, wanted to go visit my family, and my husband said "not until we have the money to both go," I would probably flip a sh!t

T---I think weekends will be the worst, you are so busy during the week, but today is almost done, that leaves tomorrow and next weekend, then you'll be on a good countdown til he gets back. It is a weird feeling when they are suddenly gone, but it can be a nice break, too. Get a bunch of food he doesn't like so you can gorge on it in peace til he comes home. :P

My sister suggested this. I think food has been one of our worst issues. He hates bland food and every once and a while I crave homemade mac and cheese or corned beef and cabbage. They are one the menu over the next two weeks.

BTW...he asked me to call him this morning. It was good to know he made it safely to Morocco and was, at the time, travelling by train with his friend to his hometown. He told me his flight was rough and that he would have been just as sad if I left for two weeks without him. ( :luv: I love this man! :luv: )

Ya'll are making too much of this.

Pedroh is the immigrant. If he wants to wait till there's enough money for he and the wifey to go back to Mehico together, then that's his deal.

I've known Pedroh a long time. I'm pretty sure he isn't passing judgment on anybody. It's just his opinion.

I am not judging pedroh or his opinion, I just think differently than he does. I won't hold my SO from going to NL to visit his parents because I cannot go with him or viceversa. I would miss him while he is gone but won't hold him from doing that.

But that's just my opinion. ;)

I wasn't passing judgement on him either, Becca, but it sounded rather like he had/has very little tolerance for anyone that feels differently to him...kind of like an "as IF" attitude from him....I've chatted with Presidente in the past too (on here I mean) and have always liked him. Maybe I'm a little overdefensive because Craig *has* had such a hard time with this, and he pretty much described us (without the 'whining' involved) exactly...he HAS has to make more trips back..or wanted to...than most. That's probably it. Just didn't like the way he put it...but hey....that happens a LOT on here... :) M.

i don't think it's inhuman to not be consistent or have contradictory feelings..

and i'm not talking about 'stop loving' anybody... but if the USC enjoys the foreign country, and well, there's not enough money for a 2 person trip, I'd rather say it's a compromising position in a financial sense.. that could be used, I don't know, to pay bills, or for the shared account, I dunno.. but I think it's selfish because you're not letting the USC also ejoying travel to the alien's country.. now if the trip doesn't affect the finances, then, why not save a little more so both can go? I mean.. unless medical conditions, or severe depresion, I don't think it's a life or death situation to take 2 3 more months to go visit ur homeland...

again, my SO would let me go, would she be happy, no, cuz she loves Guadalajara, she loves being with my folks and friends too, and of course, mexican food.. I would feel so guilty that I wouldn't probly go.. and no, i'm not trying to pass judgement on none..

and LUVZZZZ Becca and Michelle <3 <3 <3
