I have been living abroad in Egypt with my husband since may 2014. i have no one willing to be a sponsor. So i am returning home to work and bring my hubby to the usa. I just found out i am pregnant with our first child. I am wonder do i have to work a full year before i can submit the documents to bring his over. someone told me I only had to work a few months and submit my pay stubs along with a letter from my employer stating my projected income. I really want all this hassle to be done with and for my husband to be here with me when the baby gets here it would be heartbreaking if he couldn't see his own child.

Hi,

You do not need a full year of work. However, a few months of work does not show a history of reliable and adequate income for the I-864. A Joint Sponsor may still be required.

Unfortunately, there is no way that you can meet the financial requirements and get an immigration visa before the baby comes. The process will take at least a year; maybe longer because of AP.

Your choice of staying in Egypt so your husband can be there for the birth, or have the baby without him in the US.

Best of luck

I agree, he can come over for the birth, begs the question how you will manage if finances are tight, you can get a job with good health insurance?

He can apply for a visitors visa. However, a man with a US wife, pregnant with his child, his chances are not great, unless he has a lot of ties to his home country.

A joint sponsor does not have to be a family member. Any US citizen or LPR who meets the requirements can be a sponsor.

You are still first in line if there is any enforcement of the affidavit, so a joint sponsor has that "protection" as well.

Do you have anyone who would be willing to help you and your spouse?
