Hi fellow VJourners

I have a small question i need some input on.

Unfortunately by Fiance made $400 below the required poverty line for the Affidavit last year.

He is going to end up about double that amount for 2015.

I have my interview in December , so right before he gets the tax return (1040) for 2015.

What would be the best thing to do?

1. Bring the letter from the Employer, the 2014 tax return, affidavit, paystubs and current bank info and just hope for the best?

2. Leave the 1040, wait until i get the 2015 tax papers from my fiance and just submit that? (since the embassy are going to ask for it before processing again)

What would you do ?

And no we won´t get a co-sponsor since it is not needed.

You mention letter from employer and pay stubs, so I am assuming he is not self-employed.

You don't need to wait for the 2015 taxes. You will list his current annual income on the I-134(not past income from the 2014 return), and provide documentation to show that he earns that amount. Use a letter from employer and recent pay stubs for that.

Yep, previous answer is correct.

Does he have any savings, even a couple of thousand in a savings account or 401K? If so, list that too.

Hi again

Okay will include the 1040 for 2014 and just hope they look at current income and ignore that sum.

Savings include at least a couple of thousand, so i hope they will ignore that he didn´t tax enough last year.

Thank you all for your answers :) feel more comfortable about my decision now.

Won't be an issue. Folks get raises or better jobs all the time.

Think about recent students, they can have zero past income.

We were in the exactly same situation as you guys. My US fiancé's 2014 tax return was way below the required poverty line, but his current salary is way above. I had my interview in Stockholm last week and this was not a problem at all. I brought along a letter from his employer stating his annual salary and several recent pay stubs. You'll be fine. Good luck!
