ok so well everything went ok. They removed my overies, uterus and cervix without problem. The only prob i had when in the hospital (yes i left a day early cuz of this) was monday night (11pm) my IV pump broke, it was my source of morphin, and i wasnt getting any pain meds. my ditzy nurse who barely spoke english kept telling me to "push button for morphin", and everytime i told her in a crying screaming voice "Im pushing the damn button, Im still in bad pain" she acted like it was my fault I was getting no medicine. by 4am i pointed out to the stupid retard nurse that part of the IV pumped was not turned on. she looked at me and stated " ah this why you get no pain relief! the morphin pump no turned on, why you no tell me" i was PISSED by this point having pasted out 2 times from pain, and looked at her and said " look you incompitent b**ch, i had surgery yesterday, they yanked my insides out and i am in so much pain right now i could choke u and get away with it, seeing how your supossed to be the f***ing nurse it is YOUR job to make sure the IV pump is turned on and working, and that is something YOU should have done when you brought me the new pump 5 hours ago." before i could finish she all scared went and gave me a shot of 5 mgs of morphin and 2 pills of percocet. I was out in 10 mins. and shes damn lucky i didnt stay another night to see her.

Yes my experience with all this was f***ing grand, but its done and im home now for 4-6 wks. The best part was this morning when i got the ok to go downstairs to get a real cup of coffee and smoke a cig.

I do not recommend Shands at University of Florida for anyone to go to for anything, and for now on i will only go to North Florida Hospital.

Thanks guys!! Im glad to be home too and back to see you all on vj. Im off to bed now, my hubby made sure i got my meds so i can sleep. if my mom hadnt had to work monday night ed would have been able to stay with me at the hospital and the kids with my parents, and MAYBE i wouldnt have had to go thru so much hell. who knows, him being there may not have made that nurse any better.

Glad to know you're okay. Too bad you had to go through that though.

Oh and by the way, you probably won't like hearing this, but it's recommended that you not smoke (or at least cut down on the smoking considerably) while you recover. Smoking causes vasoconstriction and therefore, can retard the healing process and can even lead to some rather nasty (and unpleasant) side-effects where surgery is concerned.

Wow! Glad you are ultimately OK. If I were you, I would write to that hospital complaining of this nurse and also of the previous scheduling mix-up. Maybe you can get something out of it...

Glad you are home and on the road to recovery. (and away from that nurse!) Take care of yourself! (F)

Sorry about the biznatch nurse!

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

So glad things went 'well' for you....

My dad had surgery for an abdominal aeortic aneurysm 2 yrs ago. My mother and I were taking turns staying with him (I flew from MI to NY to be there for 2 wks)... he was having GI trouble and had a GI tube taken out and put back in twice... no solid food. He had staples like a zipper from halfway down his chest to his groin.

He was doing better on night 4 and they disconnected his IV for his pain meds, promising him oral pain medication. I made the mistake of going to my mom's for a while to have dinner.. got stuck in traffic on the Long Island Expressway.... by the time I got to the house, my mother was in tears and asked me to go back to the hospital. Apparently the nurse who SAID she was going to give him his pain meds 'forgot'... he was in so much pain and so angry from getting no response that he got up out of bed BY HIMSELF, shuffled to the nurses' station, carrying on in a fit of German rage, and threw his IV pole down the hallway, yanking it out of his arm. The nurses were so afraid, they called security and had him restrained. Of couse, you can imagine how livid I was when I got back to the hospital.....

Sadly, never, ever trust the medical support staff at a hospital. They are just too understaffed and distracted. My mother was a nurse for decades and always said the same thing....

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Glad ur doing well!! I start my RN program this fall!! Must rememebr to double check equip! Hope ur feel back to normal soon!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
