With all the waiting and paperwork that you had to endure, was it all worth it in the end?

Is your life in America what you expected or do you sometimes feel like you want to go back?

I always want to go back home but yes, it was worth it. I love my husband adn our new life, 8 yrs hence life is good....but I always miss home.

ps - there's a boatload more paperwork after you arrive too but at least you'r not separated anymore.

It is!

Every day, every hour, every frustration was totally worth it. I don't miss my homecountry at all (is going through a lot right now unfortunately).

It's been almost 4 years since I came here and I love every second of it. First, it was kind of hard while you wait for all your documentation (ssn, work permit, driver's license etc) Cause you come here and you need to start from zero. So it was kind of boring at the beginning, specially on weekdays when my husband was at work.

But 4 years later I feel like I was born here, we got married, bought a house, had a baby last year and got a great job. One of my favorite things is that if you work hard you are going to be able to enjoy a good life (wayyyy different in my homecountry), I love the Florida weather which is almost exactly like my country and I love american holidays. This is my home and the only place I want to be! I'be filling for citizenship this december.

oh I came here on a K1 VISA if you want to know.

My advices will be: bring all your personal documentations once you are ready to move and if you college degree try to legalize it so you can work in your same field here. You also need to be patient when it comes to wait for your documentation.

The first two years were incredibly hard, I was so homesick, his family weren't as welcoming as I expected, we had some financial issues... had you asked me then, not sure I would have said it was worth it.

7 years in, I am still homesick sometimes, and if the kids weren't settled in school here, I may still have dreams of moving back to Ireland. But yes, it was worth it. The quality of life we have here is better than there, the services offered for my autistic son too, and, while I don't like everything here, my USC husband lived with me in Ireland for almost 4 years, and he had a more difficult time adjusting than I (mostly for political and religious reasons).

Was it worth it? YES!

It's only been 2 months since I moved, and I don't regret it at all.

Being able to see my significant other every day and not just once in a while is great. I would never trade that for anything in the world.

I do miss home, I miss my family as I was used to see my niece and nephew everyday, my mom is sick and I was the only one going to see her every week, so it hurts me to not see her anymore, we are still talking on the phone thought. But we'll go back and visit in due time.
