Once we have our case number does that then allow us to schedule medicals? And do they schedule our interview or do we do that ourselves?

Not just yet... basically it allows you to check the CEAC site and/or call the Department of State to see if your embassy has received the case yet. You have to wait for confirmation from the embassy (usually in the form of Packet 4) before scheduling the medical and interview.

You'll need to check the regional VJ forum and/or the embassy reviews to see what to expect in your particular situation, for example, will your embassy definitely send you Packet 3 in a timely manner? Or can you complete the checklist ahead of time and send it in unsolicited (once you confirm they have your case)?

In our case, the Montreal embassy sometimes doesn't send out Packet 3, so we are going to complete it and send it in once we're reasonably sure that they have our case and have logged it in. Others have said that MTL generally sends Packet 4 (authorization to schedule interview) within 24-48 hours of receiving Packet 3. But like I said, please check out the local forum and embassy reviews to see how to proceed in your case :)

Hello all,

We sent our I-129 F form on July 6th. It was received the following day. Our case was sent to CSC and we received our NOA1 by mail on July 16th. We had a notification on the USCIS app and website on August 7th that our case had been approved and to expect the NOA2 in the mail soon. I'm the US citizen living in Boston and filing on behalf of my fiance who lives in the UK. We have been together for three years, so that might have contributed to the quick processing. We had the impression that things were moving along quickly for other July filers, but 33 days seems incredibly quick from filing through to NOA2.

Good luck to other July filers!

I'm a bit confused on what Packet 3 and Packet 4 are. Could anyone tell me what each contain?

From what I understand, in the Philipines, the packet either takes very long or doesnt come at all however te letter is available online.

I don't think you mail anything to the Embassy either but rdther you just bring it all to your interview.

Thats what I understand from everythig I've been readig about the Manila US Embassy.

Does anyone know how long it takes for them to ask for the proof of income for the Support thingy once the NVC recieves the application? We just got out NOA2 approved on August 7 via email. We were very excited but at the same time worried. I lost my job unexpectedly few days before the approval. I am trying to find a job fast that will put me above the poverty limit. I am just trying to figure out how much time I have.

Good luck to everyone.

What is a decent income proof anyway?

From what I understand they would look at the annual income from the previous year using tax forms? letter from boss? I think all this information is asked for in Packet 3 /4 once your case has left the US and reached your fiance country. In the Affidivit of Support form

Right, Packet 3 is a checklist of documents that the beneficiary signs to affirm that they have all the required docs ready to bring to the interview. As part of this the beneficiary also complete the DS-160, which is the online visa application. After the embassy receives Packet 3 from you, then they will send Packet 4, which includes information on scheduling the interview and getting the medical exam done. Hope this helps!

An I-134 affidavit of support has to be filled out. You have to make above the federal poverty limit(based on house hold size). You have to show proof that your fiancée will not become a public charge. Even though I had proof before I lost my job I met the income requirements, I cant use that since I'm no longer working. I don't want to give false information that will cause the visa to be denied. I am rushing to find another job, was just trying to get an idea on how soon do they request the I-134. I do not have a joint sponsor. You cant use unemployment benefits either. So yes I am stressing, just wanted to know how much time I had before they ask for that. I am just worried because I lost my job it will ruin everything. :(

Huge help! Thanks!

I guess the Manila office works differently. The letter is available online so you get the documents ready and then schedule your interview as soon as your case is ready at the Embassy. And there's only one clinic where you can do your medical and all you do is go in and follow the steps. You do your medical before your interview and beingb the results in a sealed envelope.

Maybe you can ask someone to be a co-sponsor
