I just thought I was going for a chest xray and tetanus jab. I didn't know I was making life choices.

I was so ill prepared.

I'm surprised by that, but the good thing is you know now. I wish you would have been informed sooner. Maybe all is not lost for you.

"A million years if I could live,
A thousand lives if I could give,
I would spend it all again with you,
Don't forget where you belong,
Only with me you are strong,
Not even the gods above can break,
Baby what we have"

More than likely you'll be able to continue the process if you don't screw up the random test within the next year. And if your wife doesn't kill you.

I'd be more scared of the wife than immigration.

Taking this at face value - I'm not a scientist, but if it gets inside you and leaves traces in your blood or urine, and perhaps the doctor at the medical smells it on your clothes, surely they would order an extra blood/urine test to be sure - and then what would happen??

Too risky. Perhaps it's possible to temporarily avoid these friends as their lifestyle could gift you problems.

I have no idea what would make you tell them that at your medical OP. Should have just kept your mouth shut. As if it was necessary to tell them you abused substances 15 years ago.......

Single puff in UK, might be 100 puffs after coming here :)

Great, you had to do this to your wife ?

Might be a permanent ban, good luck.

It's legal in 2 states and borderline legal in like 20 others. US criminal system is beyond a joke about things like this Edited by newtothelift

Because the doctor ASKED him directly....and to answer anything other than what he did would have been a lie, which is never a good idea. Better a 12 month ban for a Class B medical than a lifetime ban for misrepresentation coupled with the medical ban if medical tests showed otherwise-- always much more difficult to get waivers with multiple ineligibilities.

It does not matter for immigration purposes what state law is -- marijuana usage is against federal law which is the standard used for the immigrant visa medical exam.

As a consolation to him, at least he was honest about it. Had he lied and later found out or be tested positive then he would be in a much deeper trouble or permanently banned.

I just had my medical at a clinic in london for my spouse visa.

The Doctor asked if I had ever done drugs while holding the speciman jar and I thought I should be honest just in case I was tested.

I told her I had smoked weed recently and that 25 years ago I had coke and MDMA.

She tested me for drugs and said that they will do a random test for weed at a later date to make sure I am not an addict.

Am I doomed?

was there some inference that this random test might occur next week, or anytime within a 12 month period?

if the latter, yes, you are doomed. at least for a year.

but much depends on the outcome of your urine test.

I not know much about this aspect of the medical exam, but I twigged on 'Random Test' in your post, thinking you might have been too shocked when you heard that label, not listen to the rest of the doctors words about when the test would occur. I feel for ya, but actions have consequences.

lets say the recent urine test is positive, and you are pegged for the random testing over a 12 month period. IMO, that's the worst that could happen. Which, of course, forces your immigration calendar OUT at least a year.

IIRC, if the urine test is positive, you'll get a phone call from the doctor, explaining more about what to do, how to do, when to do.

You are correct. Honesty is always the best policy for any kind of immigration process!

Didn't smoked, but been breathing air mixed with pot smoke though... SMH.

And thanks for the advice! Been talking with my fiancé last night about it too, and he suggest me something similar too. At least go for fresh air when they smoke!

Thanks for the advice everyone. It got worse. The doctor called and said she found traces of opiate in my urine. I have been prescribed a pain killer called co-codamol for a bad shoulder by my GP. I may have taken one of my American wife's pain killers by mistake, its in the same box. She has oxycodine which is illegal in the UK.

Now the doctor wants to ask my GP some questions about any drug or addictions history (which I have none).

This opiate is really bothering me and I'm not sure if the urine test is detailed enough to reveal specific opiates or just a general presence. This doctor should be a cop.
