Just finished the entire visa process with a completed approved interview! I was lucky enough to skip most of the nvc step and able to pay the iv fee during the interview and bring all the documents to the interview instead of having to send in the documents to the nvc. I thought the interview would be long since they hadn't reviewed all my supporting documents and i864, but it was a standard 10 minute interview with the normal questions I've seen people post on here. After the NVC sent my case to the Jakarta embassay, I was able to get my interview date within 2 weeks. Last week I went for the medical checkup and the results were ready in 5 days. Good luck to all in getting through the NVC and the rest of the visa process.

:joy: Yeah! I'm so glad to hear you guys got your case number...hopefully mine is coming soon too!

Thanks mamapuchis! I would call and check next Wednesday for your case number.

I called the NVC this morning and they didn't assign me a case number yet. They received our approved petition since the 21st July. Today's my birthday I should get my case number after all

Check next week... It's currently taking between 12 and 15 days for case numbers to be assigned.

Hi, how many times did you get contact with NVC to get the status of your case? That's amazing how you skipped most of the steps. We are also in the NVC stage right now, and called them last week but they haven't assigned us number yet.

So it took them 10 minutes for them to review the same set of documents that the NVC takes nearly 3 months?

maniput,

After I got the welcome letter from the NVC it took around a week to get my case number assigned. I had the month long delay like most people and was unable to login to pay the AOS fee or complete the ds 261. I called daily to the NVC but they said just to wait it out and nothing they could do. I sent in 3 emails to the NVC and I think by doing this it expedited my case to the NVC. I just said I couldn't login or do anything in this stage. At the near of June I was finally able to sign in to fill the forms and fees. A few days later I got an email from the NVC responding to my previous emails and said that they handed my case to the Jakarta embassay from the delay in the process. You should have gotten your case number by now. After that each fee should clear within 5-7 days to pay the next fee or form.

toozler,

Yeah I was amazed how that could be and for the interview they only requested a short list of documents. Here is what they requested for the interview;

Please find the complete required documents to continue the immigrant visa process:

1. Passport

2. DS-260 form https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

  1. Beneficiary’s birth certificate – original, copy and translation
  2. Marriage certificate/book – original and translation

5. Original I-864 form from petitioner

6. Petitioner’s 1040 and W-2 from year 2014

7. If petitioner’s income does not meet 2015 Poverty Guidelines, you can have a relative/friend as a joint sponsor (American Citizen/Permanent Resident)

8. If joint sponsor required, Original I-864, 1040 & W2 from year 2014 is also required.

9. Two photos http://jakarta.usembassy.gov/visa/iv-photo-req.html

10. Medical examination report http://jakarta.usembassy.gov/visa/iv-med-exam.html

11. Fee of USD 325.00 payable in Rupiah cash ($ 1=13,500 Rupiah)

  1. Two recent photos (less than six months old) http://jakarta.usembassy.gov/visa/iv-photo-req.html
  2. Medical examination report. http://jakarta.usembassy.gov/visa/iv-med-exam.html

Once completed, please send an email to jakiv@state.gov to request for an interview date.

The email I got didn't seem legitimate, but I called the embassay to verify and the interview date and time was just sent to me in a standard email, this is what it showed in my interview email;

Dear Petitioner / Beneficiary;

An immigrant visa interview has been scheduled at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta on July 29th, 2015 at 12.30.

Please bring the required documents with you to the Embassy on the day of your interview. Please note that failure to bring the documents with you on the day of your interview may delay the processing of your visa.

QUICK QUESTION ABOUT THE INTERVIEW

My husband and I met online and became friends through facebook. We have not met each other before. Before we became friends on facebook he was already friends with my cousin and thats where he found me from. And as time went by we fell for each other and thats how we got into a relationship. And we didn't see each other in person until a few days before we actually got married when I flew to Bangladesh a few months after he moved from London. And my concern right now is that, during his interview, if we tell the embassy in Bangladesh that we met online,than we got married, would it put his case in a risk of AP.

Hi, everyone! We just got our case number and IIN and I was able to log in and DS-261 is available to be filled out but I just have a question. Do we have to wait for the NVC Welcome letter before I proceed to the next steps? Or can we just go ahead and fill out DS-261 and pay AOS fee now?
