Thank you member "gavw72". That was a fantastic tip on using the MagicJack App to call the US for free. It really worked and the connection was solid. It made repeated dialings to the NVC far more practical and endurable.

Got past the busy stuff after about 10 dials and was then on hold for about 45 minutes. I found out our package had already been shipped to Bangkok on June 2. I was able to get my case number and she gave me two other numbers we would need. They were:

Case #

Invoice #

Beneficiary ID:

NOTE: I've read several times that when you get through to the NVC to dial #1 for English and then #5 for an operator. This is no longer true. It's still #1 for English, but then I think it was #3 for a K1 filer and then #1 to hold for operator. The point is wait until you are sure which number to push or you could disconnect yourself.

Good luck to everyone else.

NOA1 received on April 20th, fiance checked online yesterday and our case was approved on June 3, but I never received a text message or email, But I did receive a text when the packet arrived at CSC. Did anyone else have the same thing happen? I'll just be checking my mail every day for the NOA2. Also, have to prepare for the next step!

And congrats to you! Yes, I've seen that happen to quite a few people. It seems USCIS is always hit-and-miss about notifications.

Also, in case any of you foreign beneficiaries are thinking of visiting your fiancé in the US post-NOA2, I just wanted to share my experience. My fiancé just flew in today and had quite a scare. He got put in a different line and then got pulled aside for secondary questioning. I got so scared thinking they would turn him away for some reason even though he had strong proof of ties to France and a copy of NOA2 as well as packet 3. Well... turns out it was the airport's mistake for putting him in the wrong line. They apologized and sent him through without asking a single question about the visa. :)

Thanks for the story. My foreign fiance is coming to visit next month and we will have him bring work emails, his return tickets and then upcoming flights out of England to prove he is going back. Will the NOA2 be mailed to the beneficiary AND the petitioner?

You can check people's VJ timelines to see how many days it took for them to receive their case number. For us, it took exactly 2 weeks.

NVC told me they do not sent notifications, so you have to call to get your case number.

As for packet 3, you should ask that in the Philippines regional forum since every embassy takes different amounts of time to send packet 3.

Hey everyone! I started following this thread just so I can help prepare myself for what comes after NOA2. I have a question...

Would it be a bad idea for my fiance to start getting his police reports now? For Brazil, he has to get his police records from Federal and Local, and he just so happens to have to go to the Federal police department anyway for part of his passport processing within the next couple days. I figured while he was there, he could start that process too. OR does, the police report have to be dated within a certain time of the interview? I just don't want to do it too early, but I also want to get a head start LOL

Thanks guys!

:) :) :)

Welcome!

We got his police certificates ahead time. From what I read it really depends on the Consulate. Some want the police certificates dated within a year. I think you would be safe to go ahead and start collecting those documents ahead of time. I looked at the Brazil portal on here for their info and no specific time frame was listed.
