The USA citizen will be allowed into the Consulate, but it is up to the Consular Officer if they can attend the actual interview. And the USA citizen is not required to attend...in some countries it is highly recommended they do, but not for Canada!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I had my k1 interview at Montreal last May 4th and my fiancé (petitioner) was with me.. He accompanied me through everything and he was allowed! The IO ended up interviewing both of us and all went well! ?

The interview is the easiest part of the whole process...Lucky if it lasts 10 minutes..and much of that time is the Consular Officer going through the paperwork....

No, we were both standing behind the glass window! We were told by the guard that it depends on the IO if he will want my fiancé with me during the interview or not, and he was told not to talk if not asked. And that exactly what we did! We only lasted for about 10 mins.. ?

To the OP... Canada interviews are normally VERY fast and smooth. As already mentioned above... the most time they take is going through the paperwork. When I went I had someone who must have been pretty new and she was sooooooooo slow before sending me around for my interview. That was the only long part. My spouse did attend as I wasn't taking any chances on missing anything if they asked for him. I was well-prepared thanks to VJ and knew it was not a requirement for my spouse to attend but it made me feel better to have him there. I also had my children with me so they hung out with him. They came to the area of the interview window and just sat on a bench waiting for me.

You'll be fine. The interview is the easy part!

They're an LPR. It keeps baffling me as well so I've made a note of their username. LOL
