Since they send it priority mail I'm guessing you need to be there to give a signature. I lived somewhere where the doorbell was broken, just stuck up a piece of paper on the front door to say so and to knock really loudly! It worked.

Another tip for the so called "undeliverable" letters, make sure your name and house number is on the mailbox. Call your local post office or

sorting facility and ask if they can "register" your name so that you are "officially" on the route. Some do some don't have that option.

This happens all too frequently with varies USCIS letters.

In my case it was the post office that screwed up...they didn't forward it to the right post office location and decided it was undeliverable...grrr.

All my other USCIS letters have arrived! I got no notification to say it had been sent though, would have been nice to know it was on it's way. Just by chance checked my case status out of interest to discover it had failed to deliver. Not sure why people have been getting emails and texts but I haven't. Yes, I check my spam.

Anybody knows how long does it take for USCIS to verify the EAD? Or how can I speed up the process? I have applied for SSN but they are still waiting for EAD verification to issue the SSN

It can take up to 3 months I believe. I think some people try to expedite the case if they have a job offer...but I'm not sure if that helps or not. It's all a waiting game!

Sorry to hear your card is delayed by the post office How are you tracking your package? Did USCIS give you a tracking number? cause I haven't gotten one.

I checked my case status on the USCIS website and when I saw the notice that delivery had failed it linked me to my USPS tracking page.

Received a "Notice of Potential Interview Waiver Case" for I-485 (submitted May 2015) in the mail yesterday. They also expect delay to be approximately 6 months from the date of the letter (July 24, 2015) to complete the case.

I got today the NOA2 for EAD and AP. I suppose to get the combo card the next week then.

A question: the EAD allows you to start a business as well (then you would be self-employed or as second job)?

I would be self-employed in the case that was my only job, but you could run a business plus be employed somewhere else (in that case I don't think you can be considered self-employed because you have an employer as well).

By the way, in both of cases, can you start a business with the EAD (especially about the first case, being your only job)?

I don't know why not, but most regulations/laws to set up a business are at the local/state level. What kind of business are you talking about? A LLC? Self-employed individual? Here is a link with a quick overview:

But if you mean being strictly self-employed, then yes, you're good to go with an EAD.
