I'm inquiring on behalf of a friend who will join shortly. He's marrying a Chinese lady whose here on a B-2 tourist visa. They met while she was here in the US visiting other family members. Her B-2 expires 4/29. Questions are 1) what process does she need to follow (I.e. what forms (I-130, I-485, etc.) should she submit? 2) Is there a request for an extension she can file in order to stay in the US? 3) what are here odds of being able to legally remain in the US while she files the necessary paperwork?

Thanks to all!

There is a forum for adjusting from a tourist visa. Ask him to read the guides and post there if he has any questions.

The guide is here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2. Overstay is forgiven for the spouse of a US citizen, but I would recommend filing sooner rather than later.
