When should Scott have his visa do you all think? I thought London was sending them pretty quickly after being issued, but he hasn't heard anything yet.

Looking back through the threads, I've seen 7, 5, 5, 5, 3, and 3 days.

I've been wondering about you. So sorry to hear no visa yet.

Thank you!!! His system still shows ready...where he checks. I was hoping to have him fly Friday, but I guess that is probably not going to happen. Wedding is now the 18th. Fingers crossed!!!

I tried early and late and honestly, I finally got the answer after calling (no joke) 10 times in a row (hang up, call right back, etc.), in the middle of the day from work (CST time).

Turns out they had had my LND number for several days but the people i had previously talked to didn't convey that to me. I finally got it by being exceptionally nice to the lady who picked up after the 10th call.

We've managed to get the LND number now too. Laborious haha, but bearing in mind the amount of stuff that must go through the NVC, I can understand that it's hard to get through.

With his interview on the Jul 30th, we're hoping to get him in to fly on Aug 27th. I hope that gives London enough time to issue it :P

He's getting so excited now.

Glad it's sorted! Most I had to call them was 70 times to get through...haha! You can ring London and get your medical booked now.

I actually called NVC today (39 tries!) as I was getting impatient with waiting for my interview letter. It's set for the 6th of August!

That's four weeks from interview date! I would really hope that will be more than sufficient, especially as my interview is on the 20th July and I've booked my flight for August 10th. I hoped that 3 weeks would be more than enough...!

Well they literally only put the info in the system yesterday so when I type in the number into the CEAC website it can't pull any information at all... do I not need to wait until it says it's got to London?

I feel for you still having to wait, and hope that your visa will be issued very soon. Seems so unfair for those that waited so long to get to the interview stage, only to finally have their interview and then face a major delay due to the issuing of visas. Fingers, toes, arms, legs and everything crossed for you!

And yes, I'm hoping above hope that the backlog is cleared by the 20th when I have my interiew. Worst case scenario, I do have a flight that can be changed. Normally I book flight economy, which are non changeable and non refundable. In view of a possibilty that there may be delays, and also because it's special flight (I'm flying to marry my loved one and to start a new life in a new country!), I opted for a higher cabin class and used some of my airmiles. This also made my flight much, much cheaper than if I'd booked as a full fare passenger. Worth bearing in mind for anyone at this point in time wanting to book flights but who are unsure exactly when they will be receiving their visas.

Luckily Scott has a credit but with our luck..we are waiting to book lol. I don't see why the backlog wouldn't be cleared by then. I've tried to stay positive this whole time, but boy does this process wear on a person

If you have a LND number, you can call to book your medical (and of course attend it as soon as you're able to). You don't have to wait for the file to be in London physically. You'll probably save a week or so not waiting.

And on the flight subject... I'm not sure if everyone knows this, but it could potentially help someone so I'll share. We always fly United and they allow you to change your flight on the day of for only $75. So if Daniel had a flight but didn't have his passport back, he would just wait until the day of the flight to change it. Costs way less than changing it in advance. Other airlines have similar policies, but of course, one should check their airline. Daniel did this a couple visits ago when he woke up the morning of his flight and was "deathly ill." He changed his flight to the next day for $75!

Thanks. Talking of flights, I've been looking at one-way flights... they are like double the price of return flights?! I'm tempted to look a return flight and then just cancel the return leg!

Ours is a $209 rebooking fee and anything above the credit from the previous flight. I need to remember that

That seems to be the norm with one ways costing more than returns. Seems ridulous, yet that's the way airlines seem to operate.

Many K1's do book a return, BUT, don't forget to cancel the return leg once you've got to the USA. Some haven't, and in rare incidences they get mistakenly logged as leaving the USA when that return flight has been used by someone else. This can wreak havoc for the AOS and permanent residency status, as unless you've applied for a right to travel during that process you'll be seen as being in breach of visa requirements.

Wooderz, does the $75 change fee apply to all classes of flights on United? Most airlines I've flown with state that economy class is non-changeable and non refundable. Only the cabin classes above economy allow the flight to be changed, for a fee. If I recall correctly, American, who I am flying with require a $125 (might be $150) fee to change flights (I'm flying AAanytime class), and it also restricts me to only using the same departure airport if I do have to change it. Not an issue for me, as Heathrow is by far the most convenient airport for me to fly from.

No doubt most airlines have similar policies, but can also have individual policies unique to their customers. Always worth checking on these before booking if a traveler feels that they might indeed subsequently need to change the flight date.
