Progress thread for TSC filers now between NVC and Interview Stage

I thought I'd start a new thread for the more recent approvals to track their progress. This is not a substitute or replacement for the existing one started by Shana, but it may be helpful to keep those of us more or less at the same stage together. The only reason I made this a TSC thread is to keep the discussion relevant and supportive. The intention was just that, and not to exclude CSC filers. If anyone has an issue with this or wishes the thread re-named, I am perfectly happy for a moderator to be contacted to make any necessary amendments. Perhaps someone can start one for CSC filers who have recently been approved, too. :)

So here's our current status.

We got our NOA2 from TSC on March 16th and our case shipped to NVC beginning of last week.

We have contacted NVC, but are too early for a case number. On the up side, the agents there were lovely!

So far, we have compiled our packet of documents for the embassy and there's nothing much to do aside from waiting to book the medical exam. It was actually fun putting the paperwork together. It's been a long wait with nothing we could do so we are still in novelty mode about actually being able to do something.

Whether you guys are working on gathering documents, getting impatient about waiting for case numbers/medicals/interviews or wanting to share your wedding plans, please feel free to do so. After feeling miserable for such a long time, hopefully this can be a place where we can be excited together and have fun.

We recieved our NOA 2 March 25th but have not yet been shipped to NVC. I am kind of worried that it might get lost in the shuffle of all of the transfers taking place.

Ive sent over the affidavit documents and he has had all his shots and has a copy of his medical records. We are just awaiting the arrival of his police certificate and that should be all set.

So now just waiting.

Hi Trudie

Totally get concerns about lost petitions. William tried hard to convince me, in vain, that our petition wasn't lost before we were approved, after it took so long. Of course he was right, but your mind starts to go into some dark places during the long wait. I'm pretty sure that transfers of unapproved petitions and approved petitions for NVC are in completely separate places. Some people didn't get a notice about being transferred on their case status. It took ours about a week to get out of TSC so it's possibly early days for you yet. Since we are just a week ahead of you, you can use our progress as a gauge to see how quickly things are moving right now.

My daughter is still missing a booster shot. We are supposed to get a follow up call about that soon, but if nothing happens by the medical, I'm going to have them give it to her there so they can sign us off and be done with it.

I didn't know you could do that without your London case number. Do you not need the London number to save and retrieve it?

^I believe you create log in credentials to retrieve your saved form. Not 100% sure, though.

Well, thank you. Both of you. I didn't know that. We will have a look at it this evening. Something else to do other than pestering the folk at the NVC :D

I think my case was at NVC for a couple of days before they had my case number. Someone else who posts here and also lives in the Portland area had the same NOA2 date and so we switched calling roles. The day she got her case number, I received mine as well... It was about 2 full weeks from my hardcopy date (3 from electronic). :)

Thank you, Chris. This is one of the reasons why it seemed fitting to have a stage appropriate thread. Filers with similar dates can compare notes and spur each other on.

Also, thank you for the heads up about the DS160. You're right. It let me partially complete it and save it. I'm wary of going any further because I had to use the SRC number instead of the London number and worry that I might forget to change it. The photos have proven a small nightmare though. They are electronic versions of the visa photos and the system doesn't seem to like any of the sizes. But early days and I didn't spend much time on it. That was a helpful piece of information though :)

NOA2- March 23rd. How do you all feel about scheduling the medical before getting the official letter from the embassy. I've seen a lot of people on here doing that. So once you get your case number from the NVC you can then schedule the medical early if you want? I'm a bit confused about that whole thing. Just wondering what your thoughta are on that...

We got our NOA2 text and email on 3/13. USCIS still shows only that it was approved and not that they have sent it to NVC. We are CR-1 though so maybe those go in a different group/batch to the NVC.

I'm hoping they have and we are one of the few that the website wasn't updated to status of sent to NVC.

In the meantime I am waiting for a newer version of the I-864 form to download (the current one on their website expires 3/31/15) we have all of our supporting documents ready to go in their folders waiting for the light to turn green so we can go, go,go!

The form does not expire and will not be replaced by a newer version on 4/1/15. Use the form edition dated 3/22/13 (found in the bottom left corner). The N beside the date indicates No, previous editions are not accepted. A Y by the edition date would indicate Yes, previous editions are accepted.

The OMB date at the top right indicates when the form must be reviewed by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in compliance with law concerning government documents and the Paperwork Reduction Act. It's involved and allows public comment periods and publication of recommendations in the Federal Register. The review is never complete prior to OMB date. They can keep it the same, revise it slightly, or completely change a form based on the review. The current form version dated 2013 (bottom corner) had a 2012 OMB expiration date. You'll have your visa before this I-864 finishes review and gets a new OMB date indicating when it must be reviewed again.
