After a long wait, my fiancee has finally arrived in SFO....She says that it was very easy. Tomorrow she is catching the domestic flight to come to me. First of all, We are planning having the registered marriage within her first week including the civil ceremony. My questions to you are: 1.) Should i wait for applying the SSN until after the civil ceremony since it is only a week away?? 2.) what forms are needed for when to apply for a driver's license?

How exciting! A big CONGRATULATIONS to both of you! :thumbs: It’s true that a SSN is NOT necessary to get married in CA, right? If so yes, get married then file for SSN, as you should wait 10-14 days after POE for your fiancée’s name to get into the system. I don’t know about the driver’s license.

I know when I was in the US for 18 months back in 05, I applied for my SS card the day after arrived. It was denied as I was not in the system yet. I went back a week later and all was fine!

As for driving license, I know in VA they require a social security number, proof of residency (bank account, pay slip I know are guaranteed) plus at least 3 proofs of identity - which can include bank account, passport, visa, social security card etc.

Check on the DMV website for full listings :)

02/07/07 - Recieved signed documents from Rob to be sent with the I-129F

02/16/07 - I-129F packet sent to Nebraska Service Center

02/21/07 - I-129F packet recieved at NSC at 7:56 am

03/01/07 - Recieved packet back from CSC - check dated wrong! (2006, not 2007)

03/01/07 - Sent packet off again - directly to CSC this time

03/05/07 - Case recieved and dated.

03/06/07 - Check cashed and number recieved!

03/09/07 - Touched

It takes about 2 weeks before she'd be entered in the SAVE system for her SSN. Might as well wait until after you're married to apply.
