Hey everyone, I have a concern. I am trying to pay the USCIS fee but don't have my DOS Case ID number. I contacted USCIS and NVC and they both say contact the embassy I went to. When I contacted the Embassy they are saying that they do not hold those records and told me contact Immigration Services. Now the whole situation started after the interview, when I asked them about my A#, they said I don't get that till I get to the US and I don't have to pay the fee until I adjusted status. The only copy of the DOS # was on the K1 visa package which I handed over when I landed in the US. Speaking to the USCIS rep they said that I should have been given a copy of a summary sheet plus those numbers should have been on my visa but none of that was done. I need some serious help, I don't want that to cause a delay.

Are you talking about the $165 ELIS Immigration fee? K1 adjusters do NOT need to pay that fee.

K1 is a non-immigrant visa. The immigration fee has to be paid by those who come to the US as an immigrant and receive their green card upon arrival, like IR-1/CR-1 (spousal) visa holders. They have to pay the fee before entering the US to not cause any delays receiving their green card.

So my AP was approved today. I thought it would be approved at the same time as the EAD and issued as a combo car. Is that not always the case?

Sometimes, yeah, at least from what I read in the other updates threads. Your EAD should be approved soon, too.

Yay, you!

Based on what I've read in the Feb filers thread, it should change to Ready for Interview after another two weeks. However, I don't think I should expect my interview date to be any time before June.

I suppose I might be having a more efficient time of it because my local USCIS office seems to be a pretty quiet place. At least it was the day I went in for my biometrics appointment. I was the only person there, save for the (super nice) employees.

No need to be confused.

The USCIS guide clearly says that "IF you are immigrating to the United States as a lawful permanent resident, you must pay the $165 USCIS Immigrant Fee".

Again, the K1 is NOT an immigrant visa and you did NOT entered the US as a lawful permanent resident. There has been questions like this on this site about whether a K1 holder should pay an immigration fee and the answer was always NO.

See this for more information: http://www.uscis.gov/forms/uscis-immigrant-fee Notice how the timeline on the website applies to IMMIGRANT visas (for example spousal). Also on the bottom of the page under "Exemptions" it says "K nonimmigrants".
