Hey :-)



This is for people who have got married in California.



Just wondered if you could answer a question we had.



We went to the county clerks office yesterday and got our marriage license. We were told that we would need to wait 6 weeks after we had sent the license off to receive our marriage certificate? Is this correct? Obviously you went through the same process (in CA) with getting married/AOS and we don't want to wait any longer! 6 weeks seems so long. We have heard people from different states going to the office and getting there certificate while they wait. What did you you?

Each state is different. Here in WA State once we sent in the paperwork and fees for certified copies it took like 2 weeks or less to get them back. If 6 weeks is what they said then that is more than likely right. They have a handle on turnaround time. All you can do is hope for better turnaround.

I'm in Texas...after our civil marriage, I was able to take that paperwork

to the clerk and purchase several certified marriage certificates on the spot...

however, the original certificate was mailed to us about 7 to 10 working days later.

Hi there,

My now wife and I married late last year and only filed our marriage certificate on December 1st at the Norwalk Head Office (not sure if that was closest for you in Redondo).
Anyway... I contacted the office just last week as we'd been waiting for about 9 weeks. It finally arrived two days ago so you shouldn't have long to wait now hopefully.

I'd try emailing the county clerk if I were you as I spent over half an hour on the phone trying to get through to speak to someone. Oddly, the day I emailed them they replied almost immediately saying the certificate had been processed that same day. Regardless, it turned up a few days later so all's good.

9 weeks! Wow. Yeah Norwalk is the one we sent it too as my wife's work is right round the corner. Can't believe the difference in time from getting married in a court house to sending it in yourself. Where did you find the email for county clerk?
