After spending yesterday on the one waiting for NVC only to find out the phone system is on and no one is there, I called again this morning. I talked to a human and she stated that my case has not been touched yet, but they are currently processing Dec. 10th scan dates or the DS260 date (whichever is last). Was unable to tell me how many days from the 60 that they were behind due to the snow. I shall call again tomorrow!

On a side note, it makes me feel better to know that it might not be a checklist, it just hasn't been processed... trying not to lose hope, but my mind can quickly go crazy thinking of scenarios, none of them being good!

In one of the other threads this was posted. It's interesting that the rep said "Dec 10th scan dates or the DS260 date (whichever is last)" because that basically goes against the theory of sending your packages in before the IV is invoiced because it will make no time difference in processing/wait time. Has anyone heard of this?? Kind of discouraging as I thought I had already started the clock for my 60 days.

Hmmm...I'm going to call them again and try to get my DS-261 reviewed thus IV bill invoiced.

so if im reading what it says right if your DS260 is after your documents scan date they will go with the later DS260 date? and if your DS260 was done and your Documents were sent after they will go off your Scan date for your documents?

hmm haven't heard about that. I did my ds260 before I sent my documents anyways so guess it doesn't hurt me either way

I had never heard it either. I just called and asked specifically and she said "No, it is at least 60 days from the date we received your packages on site." Sorry if that caused any confusion for people, as is common, the NVC reps just throw out false info!

That's more than just a few months. That's nearly an entire year old. I'd definitely get a new I-864 form signed (and updated if anything has changed in the past year).

Thank you for responding - I will do just that. It's a bit of a pain as we are in Ireland and the joint sponsor is in Florida, but not as much of a pain as getting a checklist from the NVC, I'd say :)

If they just issue your number you won't be able to.

I received case number Jan 20 and called today to give email addresses. And since i filled out ds261 and made an error in my email, the representative opened and reviewed it with me so I should be able to pay this week.

Fill out your ds261 and after a week call to update and ask the status , maybe you get lucky.

I'm getting a little ahead of myself but am just wanting to do as much research before I get to the point where I have to send our documents to NVC. I see there there are two options for sending the documents and once you select a method, you can not switch it later, is that right? Which method is preferred? The email or actually mailing it all in?

Thanks!

Electronic Processing (EP) is only available to a few specific countries, Tanzania not being one of them. Your only option is to snail mail packages in.

I'm not sure 100% if you'd get a checklist, but in this case, since a checklist costs 60 days, it'd be better to fix it now.

If you trust your joint sponsor, you can always send them your documents, they can then add their documents, then they send everything to NVC from Florida. Might save some time ;)

No problem! Sorry for the bad news, but yeah, EP is only available (for now) to a few countries. NVC's goal is for it to be world-wide, but it'll probably be some time before that happens.

Doesn't matter who you choose as agent. If NVC has both your email addresses on file, then you'll both get correspondence. Most people choose the US petitioner, but honestly, it doesn't matter.
