just an advice from my recent experience:

Last time I called before IV was invoiced and DS-260 completed rep told me to send all the paperwork with AOS cover letter, not to wait for IV payment and DS-260 completion. That was by the time you complete IV payment and DS-260 they will get all the paperwork and will start reviewing (counting 60 days) sooner.

I don't know if it's a good advice or not, thats what I was told. Also rep advised to use cover letter from AOS because he said cover letter that comes with Welcome letter is too confusing with all those checklists.

Also he told me not to separate packages and put everything in one envelope, AOS papers first, IV supporting docs last.

What about if you checked apt or ste?

Sadly, my work computer doesn't have the latest Adobe Reader. And I need a dang admin password (which I don't have) to update anything on this computer :ranting:

Hi Saylin,

Yes, I dont get it even after checking the box on Flr. So, I hand wrote it after printing the form and sent it.

It will be fine, right?

So, I was in the process of updating my wiki with the new menu changes and realized I still had the DOS number listed, even though they took that option away awhile ago. I thought I'd call the number to verify, and came across something that everyone will be VERY interested to know. It's an automated message basically saying they no longer take calls and all calls should be made to NVC. Then they automatically transfer you to NVC's number. And it connects RIGHT AWAY.

Folks, this means: NO MORE RE-DIALING. The DOS automated message lasts 40 seconds. This is soooo much better than having to re-dial for minutes and minutes on end when calling through NVC!

Hi Saylin,

What does AP stand for? I have my interview this coming Feb. 3rd! Been married to my US wife since 2002, so she lives here in Canada with me of course. I'm taking some bank statements with our US address on it from an actual US bank and not just a bank like TD where any Canadian can open an account in the US, a notorized letter from my wife's parents that we'll be staying with them and helping out with bills and house work, and also a car insurance quote with my wife's name and US address. She has also maintained a local phone number for the town we'll be living in and has bank statements from our US account to show payments. If we had just got married I could understand my wife waiting in the USA for me, but we chose to live in Canada because of my pension I'll be getting after almost 29 years at one of the colleges here in Toronto, with full intent from the start to move to NC upon retirement. I sure hope they understand our situation and not give me any problems.

Thanks,

ncglenn

AP = Administrative Processing

Basically, if you don't have everything they want, they put you into AP until they receive all the required documents. It's not the end of the world (like a straight out denial can be), but it does put on a few weeks at the minimum.

Hi Saylin,

Yes, I dont get it even after checking the box on Flr. So, I hand wrote it after printing the form and sent it.

Yup, that will be fine. You can hand write everything if you wanted to ;)

you more than rock!!! you're totally fantabulous!!!! you're a rock star!!! :energy::energy: I love it!!!!

Haha, you're welcome! Glad it was really helpful to another person! I wish I had found that trick before I wasted all that time testing the new menu options

NVC is all over the place. I have heard people waiting past the 60 days and others getting it fast.

Maybe have a congressman do an inquiry.

Did they say if it has been sent to a supervisor for review?

I had an issue with the IV invoice and so they had my case sent to a supervisor for review it. It took about 2 weeks. I'm also waiting for a Case Complete.

God willing we'll both get a Case Complete very soon.

Thanks so much Mrs Thb!!! I really really appreciate it. You're in my prayers too. <3 I'm so happy we both made it to this stage.

I read your message about trying to take it easy from here on out. I'm totally trying to do the same. For some reason the wait at NVC feels different from the wait at USCIS.

Please God, give us a case complete and Visa Approval this year. :)
