To be as up to date as possible. Things can happen much quicker than the average time frames.

But the frequency of calling is up to each person. Some people like calling daily (that was me), others prefer calling once a week or less, and some don't call at all. It's up to each person and how they want to handle their case ;)

Well, back when I was in NVC, you'd get through right away (no re-dialing necessary), and depending on what time of the day you called, it can take as little as 5 minutes. I'd call at 5pm ET (when most people get off work and are busy commuting home) and I'd usually get an operator within 5-10 minutes. The longest I ever waited was probably 20 minutes or so. So, calling back then was much easier/faster. Although, even with current time frames, I'd still probably call once a day. I always used my computer to call NVC, so I just did other stuff on my computer while waiting. I liked staying as up to date as possible on my case

How I've interpreted the I-864EZ requirements is that to be eligible to use the form, the petitioner has to be the sole sponsor. So, if there will be a joint sponsor, then both have to fill out the I-864.

My case was complete on 12/15/2014. What does this mean? Why are they sending me this now?

"Dear Sir/Madam,

All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing of your case has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.

The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of the interview."

Sincerely,

Director

National Visa Center
