Can I start the enlistment process after my interview or wait till I get the actual card?

Are you talking about the AOS interview? What branch are you interested in joining?

Best advise: Go talk to a recruiter. I'm not sure about your situation.

Guys, btw, Meps was sooo boring, but me and my wife are both medically and physically qualified! We're probably gonna swear in next week.

Awesome.

My wife and I are doing similar. I've been enlisted for near nine years now, but when she gets her citizenship, she's gonna commission in the Air Force (she's got four degrees, one of which is Financial Management, so she's gonna try to go for Finance).

I am the USC.

The member "Khaleesi" is my beautiful wife.

I am thinking about navy active duty.

You should be able to start the process after you AOS interview, make sure you get a stamp on your passport for your approval. Actually, go speak with them before the AOS interview, they'll probably ask you to take a pre-ASVAB to see if they'll work with you, once you take that, go to your AOS interview, get approved and go talk to them. They'll start the process but you'll have to wait until you have your physical green card to do a couple of things like MEPS.

Have you spoken to a recruiter yet?

Sweet deal! Are you an officer or enlisted? I can't see if you're wearing blues or not, so I really can't make up which branch you're in.

That's a good idea of you both being in. She could get her citizenship expedited if she goes enlisted and then commission once she's in. I've heard that if she commissions she'll have to renounce her citizenship. Is that something she's thought about?

I think married couples in the same branch is a great opportunity and a great way to earn some decent $$ besides the rest of the benefits. Keep me updated!

Well I just said I was enlisted lol. (I'm just being mean lol).

The uniform I'm wearing in my pic is my Air Force mess dress. I'm a Staff Sergeant.

As for the rest, she's not joining until we're done having kids. We just had our first five and a half months ago. We plan on having two more, so it will probably be another five years. So she will have been a citizen for a couple years before she goes off to OTS.

As for the renouncing of citizenship, no she doesn't. In fact, I was just at a class with a U.S.-Brazilian dual citizen officer with a TS clearance. They don't give a ####### so long as you are up front. Certain jobs place certain restrictions on it, but I am intel and work with dual citizens, so I can tell you for a fact that no, it's not a requirement.

Lol, you did say it....

Ah that's awesome! And about the dual citizenship, that's good to know, my wife and I are both enlisting, but I think if she finishes her degree, she could consider commissioning later on.

I have a friend that used to be a Ssgt in the Airforce and he just got out, they offered him to go intel or out, he stepped out. lol.

I know for a fact that navy recruited from Philippines and you could join there and get your US Citizenship.

At the time no greencard was needed or AOS, in fact you didn't even have to ever been in USA to join.

My wife enlisted in the Air National Guard. She was in what she thought was good shape, but having been in the Army myself, I taught her how to do the military push-ups, sit-ups and run. It took her half a year to get fully up to speed working on physical training with me as a coach. The running was the hardest part for her to get up to speed on. So if she does go to get her commission, just make sure she starts early enough training. I am sure you already have begun to cover that with her though. I am just glad I started working with my wife early on. She made it through basic training in fine shape, even with having injured her ankle on the obstacle course mid-way through.

Make sure she gets going in plenty of time before the age cut off. My wife would have gone active duty if she were younger. Also, she is working on becoming an RN right now. She has been told that the Air Force can do a waiver on age in the Air National Guard for commissioning as a nurse. I dont know the facts on that myself. She would like to transfer to medical as a nurse when she completes her education and go through the OBC program for that. She is in services right now (she couldnt get anything else requiring a security clearance because she was not a US Citizen when she enlisted). I hope it works out for my wife somehow, to get her commission, as well as for your wife.

Air Force cut-off for officers is 35; she's 28 now. We plan on having all our kids by age 30/31. Since she's already got four degrees, she's got plenty of time to chill before joining.

As for the training, we've already started. Her sit-ups aren't bad (18 in a minute, which was the same score I had the first day of Basic Training; my last PT test I did 61 correct sit-ups in a minute) and she can do a quarter mile in two minutes, but we have to work on her endurance; after one lap she's looking like I do after the full test. The push-ups are what's getting her, so that will be a task. But she's 5'7" and 110 lbs, so she shouldn't have too much of an issue so long as she sticks to it.

I am the USC.
