I'm living proof of it Marvin. I lost a job on the local fire dept because of minority quotas that were part of AA. I had a higher test score than 3 of the people who were put on at the time, but because of minority preference, they got the job ahead of me.

Yes they do. The policy still stands today. Anyone can take the civil service exam in Mass for Fire and Police, but if you're a regular Joe with pale skin, you better get a perfect score or your chances of getting on are basically nil. We have minority and veterans preference in our state for civic duty jobs, the regular Joe's with pale skin get in line after that.

The FDNY is the exact opposite.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure how you made the jump from me using a particular politician as an example to "Because he did this, does this mean EVERY black mayor or politician is more likely to be on the take?"

They ended up with another black mayor who is now in prison for bribery. He tried using the race card as well, but the FBI finally wised up and it didn't work. The mayor that followed him was also black. Dave Bing. He ended up being a decent mayor, and did what he could with the mess that was left behind. Ultimately the city ended up declaring bankruptcy.

Happens everyday. They pick from among the top qualified minorities, regardless of how many non-minorities scored and had better records. That is what AA is.

I agree Marv, but that's how it is in Mass. My life would had been very different if I could've landed that firefighters job.

Happened to some of my friends as well. After taking the test twice and not getting on, I decided to move on. My brother hit it right for the local police force, he got a perfect score and the quotas happened to fall into line for him and he got on after his second attempt at taking the exam.

He was following him in the car. Once he got out and starting running after him, it was a chase. No identification or even an attempt to defuse the situation. A woman would have maced or shot him for being a pervert.
