It's off topic because you don't agree with him and have counterpoints he can't dispute.

Head bigot and racist from the bunker

I would not change my position . . I have family that works for the airlines and there is a big concern. .. As I have maintained. 1 million + for a single hospital . Emergency room closing . Perhaps folks dying because of this . Airline stocks crashing ...... Just stop handing out visas until this is under control. Do not allow anyone into this country that has a visa stamped on the passport showing the have just traveled into these countries. Quarantine all US citizens returning from these countries. until deemed safe.

You elect the government, the government has the mandate to deal with issues like this. You can disagree with it all you like, but the management of public health threats isn't an area that allows for a democratic mandate.

Let the professionals do their jobs and stop trying to introduce partisan politics into the issue.

Disease control is their priority. You just don't agree with what they're doing or how they're doing it. Anyone that works in a specialized field knows that criticisms from people outside of a specialized field should be weighted accordingly. If you were a virologist, I'd value your opinion about viruses more, ya know?

They don't seem to be doing a very good job concerning their priority. Should folks just sit back and say "We'll let them handle it, because they know what they're doing" when it's pretty obvious they've made some glaring mistakes? Giving the go ahead for this girl to fly is one of them. Who knows how many others that we don't know about yet.

There seems to be one common underlying factor in all of these negative posts and that underlying factor resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. I strongly believe if we had a Republican president sitting in office right now and things were being handled exactly the same, these Negative Nellies would be full of support and optimism.

Well the buck does stop at the presiden'ts desk, does it not? Regardless of who is sitting behind that desk?

The buck always stops with the man in charge, but in reality no President has a hands on approach with things like infectious disease. It would cause more problems than help if they did. It's one thing to make that claim, but realistically we all know, or should know, it's not logical in all cases.

The buck does stop there, but the extreme left and the extreme right like to blame all of the problems on the other party. Rational people know that it is a two way street.

How would we know? Someone failed when talking to the girl, clearly some procedural things need to be fixed. That's a fail. The overall strategy that comes from the specialists is what I care about, not the tech 1 that answered the phone.

There's a credibility (or lack thereof) issue here. We're told to trust the govt./CDC when it comes to these matters. It seems they've been wrong on an almost daily basis. Doesn't matter who is in the white house, that person is ultimately repsonsible for the policies and actions of agencies under his control.

Because the internet G. C'mon man, everyone is an expert.

Would you not agree that it is perfectly normal for some mistakes to be made by people that are put into an abnormal situation? I certainly would and I don't feel the least bit safer because of it. No matter what their level of expertise, people need time to get their stuff together and adjust to situations.

Karee, we don't know anymore about controlling disease than a typical user knows about enterprise storage or databases. Why would you think otherwise. These people are not stupid, they have lifetimes of experience, multiple PHD's and direct study of what we're talking about on the ground.

i don't think it's about trusting the cdc. i think it's about trusting people to do their jobs, the specialists involved. it's ridiculous the way people think that trusting all the hype, all the click bait is better than trusting the cdc. i'm pretty certain that the people who've made this their work don't want everyone dying of ebola, that is probably a big motivation behind their career choice - wanting to contain/understand disease and save lives.

Ok then. The head of the CDC came out and stated "there's nothing to see here, move along" concerning the first guy from Africa. Now we have two more patients that have tested positive. How many more positive test results will it take, before you realize maybe they don't know what they're talking about? 100? 1000? It's not like these two nurses were in an uncontrolled environment when they were infected. Now we have one of the nurses getting on a plane with 100s of other people with the OK of the CDC. I don't care if he is a tech 1. How is he even in a position to be giving nurses that treated an Ebola patient, that are symptomatic the OK to fly? That's more than just some procedural slip up. I consider a procedural slip up getting my tax refund check a month late. Telling a person it's ok to fly that is exhibiting symptoms of a highly contagious disease with 50+% mortality rate is a bit more than a procedural issue.

Ultimately responsible, sure. Realistically responsible, not so much.
