In the letter my friend received, the second paragraph said they are currently receiving an increased number of approved petitions from U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). As a result, we are experiencing increased review times for documents received.

What I want to know is, how many resources were exhausted to type and send these letters out!! Could have been spent reviewing documents, me thinks.

That is the letter I received. What's funny is i just spoke to NVC yesterday. Why didn't they tell me this then. He told me 30 days.

I know it's a small sample of applicants and not everyone is on Visa Journey or on this thread, but I wonder if NVC is getting an increased number of approved petitions from USCIS.

Don't resubmit, just wait. Those things take time. And if you call, they should know about it (but you never know with some of those operators).

Since other reports on the forum suggested that they got an initial response within 24 hours, I called the NVC to make sure the email had been received. The operator had no record of it, but told me it was strange since I hadn't gotten an error message. She asked me if I had put "Attn: PA Supervisor" in the subject line, which I hadn't. I resubmitted the expedite request with that subject. I have no idea whether the first one is already in progress.

I can add more support for the fact that packages are being scanned in more quickly. My IV package was received July 23rd in the morning, and was scanned in on July 25th.

I think that an increased load in March, April and May would just now be getting into the heart of the NVC process and so the "increased workload" would still hold true. What I'm hoping is that the bulk of the workload was indeed from approved petitions in March, April and May which would lead me to believe that NVC will actually start to pick up speed in the next few weeks.

It would make sense that there might be fewer people on VJ if the I-130s are getting approved at a reasonable pace. I found this place as a result of researching the I-130 backlog (there was a letter writing campaign mentioned on trackitt that led me here!).

I think more people will pop up in the NVC stage because that's where the delays are and with delays come questions, questions lead to Google searches which lead to discovering VJ!

Hi guys,

Apologies for repeating the same question as previously posted in the July thread, but hoping for some insight here so that I can get my AOS package in the mail today. I lived abroad all of last year and thus, my total income on the tax transcript is a negative number (also reported foreign income on my taxes). Is it ok to put this for part 6, 13.a.1? I really don't want a checklist!! My current income is good, as are the previous two years, but I don't want the negative number to throw up flags.

Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone out there!

Good point. If USCIS was 60-90 days and NVC was 30-45 then I never would have found VJ either!!

Yeah it is disappointing. I called NVC today and they confirmed me they received my case on July, 22nd. Exactly, 12 days after USCIS sent it. Was it sent by horses and carriage? But the worst part is that the lady on the phone told me that maybe I have to wait more 30 business days to get my case number and IIN. If so, I won't be able to send my AOS and IV packs till September at least!!! And then, what? Another 60 business days according to the letter they have just started to send, apparently?

I already have my AOS and IV packets ready, what happens with my documents? Do they expire? With this processing times, I am afraid they won't review my file after three months.....All the documents maybe are outdated....

My husband has been waiting in Canada for over 6 months, NOA1 received 1/28/2014. I phoned the USCIS yesterday and asked the Immigration Officer if they could give me any information, nothing after a 95 min. wait. The USCIS told us (6 times) in April that he could cross the border (Peace Arch) with his household and our dog and file a I-129f when he arrived. Nope, it was incorrect information and turned away at the border. I am ready to throw up my hands and give up. It took us 17 years to get married after DOMA was struck down, this process feels like another 17 years.

Our file is an NSC (people have been approved that filed after us) with no extenuating circumstances.

Would an attorney help this process or should I just keep waiting?

Thanks,

Frustrated Mark!

So, the backlog at USCIS and NVC is actually a BLESSING!!! What would I do all day without VJ? .....

A checklist would be not writing what is on the tax transcript. Are you currently making more than the poverty guidelines in the USA or do you have a joint sponsor?

30 days to case number

then

30 days (probably less) to DS 261 being available

then

30 days to IV invoice being available

then

30 days to review the civil documents

All business days of course. The AoS invoice and package will fall somewhere in the middle of all that so these are the outliers. Yes, it'll likely be at least 3 months before they review your IV civil documents so if any of those documents expire you should replace them before you get your IV bill.
