Called NVC this morning, I got through on the 2nd attempt. I received my case # and IIN. She says it was generated on 6/18 then proceeded to tell me dont do anything yet bc I cant use it until they email me within 10 days for completion of next step(which I already knew from keeping up with post). Im just glad for some progress yet minor but I'll take it!

Hi Everyone!

This forum is really great, I am happy that it exists.

This is my 2nd round through the USCIS system. I am a USC and brought my husband to the US in a K1 in 2006 (it took 9 months , expedited and with congressional support!! I hope the time is shorter now.)

After many years living between the US and Chile, we decided to stay in Chile for employment reasons. My husband is a LPR, but unofficial my abandoned his status in 2012, when his re-entry permit expired.

Now,we have decided to sell everything s d move back to the US!

Which means starting the process over via I 130

We are waiting it out in Chile, until we get done kind of confirmation from NVC that the visa is in process

We have two small children, both USC so we just need to petition for my husband

I am a little concerned because I sent the package on May 27th, from Patagonia (think end of the earth) via UPS

The package was signed for on June 1st, but I haven't received my NOA :(...

Has anyone else filed recently from Chile???

I was ignorantly certain that the process would go quickly as my husband was a LPR until recently

What are other people's experiences with the process, filing from abroad?

Does the Chicago Lockbox emit the NOA? If dies it come from a district office???

Thanks and of course GOOD LUCK to everyone!!!!

You should get the NOA1 within a week or so of its receipt, and then the wait time until your NOA2 is variable, but the goal is 6 months, I believe. (Lately petitioners from abroad have enjoyed autoexpedites, so you might get lucky and have a quick processing time.)

I'd call USCIS to ask about the NOA1. You should have received something by now.

Once you have an NOA2, come back to this thread! We discuss the second stage of IR-1/CR-1 processing, which takes place at the National Visa Center.

Agreeing with the above, petitions filed from abroad have been approved pretty quickly recently, so you might get lucky after all OP :) Here's the thread for June I-130 filers: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/500107-june-2014-i-130-filers/ That'll be the right resource for you while you go through USCIS. We look forward to seeing you back here post-NOA2!
