Hello Friends,

I was just curious to know or understand the basic normal interview process for greencard based on F1 students marrying a US citizen spouse.

Any idea how long the interview lasts on an average time? Also, is it always 2 yrs first greencard if the interview gets approved?

Any details will be appreciated.

Regards.

In addition to going over the information in your applications, the officer will likely ask you a lot of seemingly silly questions like what you ate for supper last night and whether you have cable in the bedroom to test whether you really live together. I've even seen couples asked to draw a map of the house or bedroom. They will also look at documentation that you bring to the interview like pictures, bills, and evidence of joint accounts or affidavits from friends and family. Try to have everything in neat order so that you can get your hands on whatever they ask for easily and not waste time. Congratulations and best of luck!

PS: Officers do sometimes interview each spouse separately to be sure that the answers given match, but usually they are interviewed together.

The interview itself may normally just be 5-30 minutes but don't plan to be in and out that quickly, ours was close to an hour late.

That is true. It will start late :)

We put in a service request on the I-130 the same day of the interview and today we were notified by Nebraska via e-mail that the file had been requested and sent to a supervisor for review. I already set up an Infopass for June 4th to follow-up on this. I am going to be behind them until they get the I-130 transferred and the NYC office approves my pending AOS.

Our interview was scheduled at 10:20 am , we arrived at 10:00 am and we were called in at 10:40 am. We were out of there by 11:10.

Our interview lasted about 25 minutes, most of the time was spent on going over basic information off of the application. Then he asked us to provide our evidences for joint-relations (bank statement and lease for our home) he looked at our picture album for about 3 minutes and took 2 of them and that was about it. We were called into the office together. I think if you are seperated, then they are doing more of an interrogation than an interview. (or are already suspicious about something)

We felt very relaxed at our interview,(although we thought it would be scary ) and it was just me, my husband and the man doing the interview. At first we thought that becasue the interview was so short and he really didnt collect much info that maybe it was a bad sign. But 2 days later, we recieved the approval email, and he has now recieved his greencard. (9 days aftrer the interview) :) Good luck!

Thank you all so much. Now I get the basic picture of the interview process. Highly appreciate you all for the comments.

Keep in mind that if they suspect you of fraud, you can have an abnormal interview, or a Stokes interview. Hard to give advice without more info. Good luck to you.
