Background Security Checks on i130 Petition

Hello VJ Friends!

I'm very upset with progress on my application for i130 petition.

I'm a August filer and my file was transferred to California Service Center on January 22, 2014. I was advised to contact them after 60 days if no response.

My Alien Registration Number Changed on Jan 28, 2014. This is when I believe my case was touched by human.

Since majority of August filers have received there NOA2/approval, I was very much disappointed with my progress and finally contacted USCIS Tier 2/ISO.

The person I spoke with was very rude and he mentioned the current processing time is ONE YEAR? we further insisted for the cause of delay and he mentioned that its because of security background checks.

Does anyone know how long does background check takes? Its almost 2 months and after reading stories of other people I'm really scared as some have waited for 15 - 19 months too.

Any advise or hope will help ease my pain.

I am a May filer, NSC responsed to my inquiry that my case is pending under background check clearance. No idea what they do

I am an April 2013 filer. I've had my file transfered from California to Nebraska in Decemeber and a RFE request was sent to me on February 11 in which they received my response by February 14th. The letter said up to 60 more days for a response to wait for a decision. Then if approved, packet 3, packet 4, medical, interview, and then wait for my visa. I might get home by June/July for a grand total of 14-15 months.

You could have a long wait ahead of you. Sit tight, stressing yourself out it is not going to speed up the government, believe me, we have tried. Our lawyer tried everything.

I would expect USCIS to check at minimum :US SDN List (http://sdnsearch.ofac.treas.gov/default.aspx) ,UN Sanctions/counter terrorism list, list of Politically Exposed Persons , suspected arms dealers, drug traffickers, past immigration offenders etc..

All together, it could be millions of names. if you are unfortunate enough to have a common name with any of these people, they may have to do further due diligence to clear you...

I'm a March 2013 filer, who is still waiting to finish up at the NVC. In 3 days, our petition will be 1 year old. We're hoping that my husband will be able to join us in the states by June, but if they don't fix the delays they're having at the NVC, we may be looking at July. So that's a grand total of 15-16 months.

Once they told me I was undergoing "additional" background checks it took about a month maybe a little less for them to clear me and send to an officer. It is such BS because they held my file for 10.5 months before doing anything with it. And I don't believe for one second that it was additional checks... I think it was them just starting from scratch but ran out of excuses. They are lucky I got an approval last night because today I was planning on making tons of phone calls about the new posted processing times. 5 Months at TSC is a slap in the face after I waited 11 months. I learned that they do more lying than anything else. Every time I was told something, it ended up being the complete opposite and obvious they run a super disorganized business.

Hi everybody i feel for you with all this bullshit we have to go thru cuz of these lazy lying worthless mother f*s it hurts to be kept waiting all this time after we pay good hard earned money alot of us dont have to go thru their process of totally mismanagement
