Hi,

I wanna work as soon as possible, is there any other way to work legally while waiting for green card?

I've heard about working permit,

where do you get that ?

how much does it cost?

how long does it take to get it?

what are the requirements for you to be able to get it?

is there anything else I'm missing?

I'll appreciate those helpful and informative responses .

No, someone entering with a K-1 visa cannot work as soon as they get to the US. See this recent post on the same topic > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/484133-employment-authorization-after-arrival-of-fiance/

You can also do a search here on VJ and find plenty of other info about this subject.

In a nutshell and as far as I know so far you apply for aos (leads to greencard) and work permit right after you get married in the us. it takes about 3+ month. In this time you are not allowed to work and not allowed to leave the country... so safe some money previously.

people may correct me if I'm wrong.

Not using the K-1 process.

If you marry in the Phils, then apply for and wait for the CR-1 spousal visa, THEN you can work immediiately upon arrival.

Entering on a K-1 you will need to get a work permit - EAD - before you can start working. As a rule of thumb it will take you in average, 5-6 months from the day you get married, until you receive your EAD, if you file everything as soon as you have your certified marriage certificate.

If you want to work as soon as possible after landing in the US, you will need to marry immediately and file your AOS (with EAD/AP) immediately after your marriage. You should receive work authorization within 2 to 3 months after you file AOS.

That isn't right, it is more like 2-3 months to get the EAD once you file and if you are smart about it and fill out the forms in advance you can file as soon as you have a copy of the official marriage certificate and I imagine if you get married at the courthouse that you would be able to get it within a few days if not the same day.

A lot of people seem to make silly mistakes and delay the process by having to reply to RFEs so it is important not to rush putting your package together so if you start now you should be well prepared.

Correct. It should be about 2-3 months from the date you file, but in some states it can take up to a month to get the official marriage certificate, and then there are RFE's.

No, it is not ok to work in any capacity.

If you want to work on arrival go for a CR1 visa.

Nope can't work when you arrive. Again more patience will be needed.

You will need to get married and file AOS , plus file the I-765 (EAD work permit) and file the I-131 (AP) both are free to file. My wife got her EAD two months after filing AOS, some wait about 4 months.
