Short status update: DS-261 became available for me today and i filled it in. :)

I'm the beneficiary.

Don't have a timeline? Don't know how to get started with it? Do it for the statistics sake: VJ video guide

Filing for a USC spouse visa (IR-1/CR-1) and not sure what comes next? Check out the VJ IR-1/CR-1 guide

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.

Ayayay dont wait, be proactive and call call call wink.png call nvc and ask if they have already received your case..if they havent yet, call uscis and ask for the date when your case was shipped (or if they really have shipped it out)

Now that NVC already got your case but just dont have a case# yet, you should start calling NVC everyday or at least every other day now. You only need your USCIS receipt# when you call the NVC.

My husband, US citizen, called NVC today, and they got our case on Jan 3rd, 2014. But when he asked about the NVC number, the guy on the phone said that I can check the case with NVC# or USCIS#. I was surprised by this. Because everyone here had been saying that NVC# and USCIS# are totally different. The guy on the phone also said that our laywer should receive a package sometime next week.

Questions:

1. Is there a specific NVC website to check the petition using NVC case# (just like how it works with USCIS website)???

2. What's in the package that we're going to receive???

I'm from Indonesia (the beneficiary), and my husband is a USC.

USCIS

06/04/2011: Got married in Surabaya, Indonesia

03/10/2013: (Some time at these dates) Filed I-130 through a lawyer

03/25/2013: Priority date, NOA1

11/08/2013: Case was transferred to Texas Service Center

11/16/2013: Case update: "was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office."

11/25/2013: NOA2. Post Decision Activity: APPROVED (by Texas Service Center)

12/05/2013: Received NOA2 in the mail.

12/19/2013: "Shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing."

NVC

01/03/2014: NVC received our case work.

03/26/2014: Called NVC and they said that there's an error on the affidavit support and they didn't get copy of my passport. This case, I blame our lawyer.

Just the green NBI clearance smile.png or if u have stayed in another country for more than 6months, then police clearance from that country is also needed.

Right now, I am still trying to figure out someone who can help me with this in China. What if I can not provide China Police Clearance? Hi there,

I'm planning to get my NBI clearance next week in Cebu but when i read your post about NBI office is close because of some reason and then your told to come back on March 3,it makes me feel bad actually coz it seems like i can't get my NBI next week and i don't have any recent NBI clearance. Is it really close? I'm getting worried here sad.png

I went to Robinsons cyber gate. Security guard told me it's temporarily closed. He advised me to go to Capitol nbi main office. Before getting NBI we need to ask for an appointment first. They will schedule us. This is just so frustrating! Ugh.

Thank you so much! I tried but it was stated "Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please contact the National Visa Center if you believe that you have received this message in error." Maybe I'll wait for 2 business days. Good luck!!!

Hello deescaff,

In NVC you will need to find out by calling every day your - Case Number and Invoice Number.

Then you go here:

https://ceac.state.gov/iv/

And fill the DS-261 Choise of Agent and appoint your husband.

For that you will need:

  1. Select one of the following roles that best describes your relationship to the case: Principal Applicant, Attorney, Petitioner, or Third-party Agent.
  2. Enter the NVC case number located in the instructions that you received from the National Visa Center (NVC).
  3. Enter the NVC Invoice ID Number provided to you by the NVC. The information is located in the NVC instructions you received. If your case was not handled by the NVC (because the petition was filed at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate overseas), you will not have an NVC Invoice ID number. Enter the principal applicant’s date of birth in YYYYMMDD format instead.
  4. Click on the Sign In Button.

After that your husband will get email to pay AOS fee.

Good luck innocent.gifyes.gif

Follow what MahVika said about calling, thats the fastest way to find out your case number :) as for the police clearance, i dont think they will reject ur petition but maybe u will get a checklist from nvc for your IV package, or it could also be that nvc wont mind but the consul who will interview you will not give u the visa unless u submit to the embassy the required document.

Actually im on the same boat :/ im still trying to get a police clearance from amsterdam, and it's taking forever for them to respond.. -_-

hello guys, how many before i can access ceac website, after i recieved our manila case number,

I was able to access ceac as soon as i got my case number. You should try now if u already have yours :)

Saylin said dont panic if you get an error message when logging into the site. It's actually a good thing, theyre probly entering your case into the system.. Just try again later :)
